Dear MoveOn member,
My friends, this is no ordinary election. This is no ordinary time.
At this juncture—just over one week until Election Day with the race tied in battleground states—none of us who care about the future of this country can afford to be a mere spectator.
This is an all-hands-on-deck moment. The stakes could not be higher.
We MUST—simply must—do everything in our power to help turn out the millions of people with progressive values in battleground states and districts who risk sitting out this election. I can tell you quite confidently that these voters will make the difference—but only if they vote.
That’s why I’m writing to you now with a very serious last request: Please, if you can afford $9, join me in rushing a donation to MoveOn’s highly strategic and effective work to turn out infrequent voters in battleground states and districts. MoveOn has been focused on these voters all year long and is firing on all cylinders now, running a massive, multifaceted program to reach these precise voters, but MoveOn needs an urgent infusion of donations to pay for it all.
Will you join me right now? Please.
National Public Radio released an investigation this week that found that Donald Trump has made more than 100 threats to prosecute or punish perceived enemies.1
In these final days before the polls close, Trump is escalating his attacks on fellow Americans whom he calls “the enemy from within.”2
Trump went so far as to say that if “radical left lunatics” disrupt the election, “it should be very easily handled by—if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military.”3
Which gets me right back to that all-hands-on-deck moment I was talking about.
That’s where MoveOn comes in.
They have devised a data-driven campaign to cut through the noise of the media and reach the precise voters who are likely to decide this election—1.5 million of them, to be exact.
They are now in the final sprint of a yearlong campaign that began by engaging and persuading these voters and is now working 24/7 every day to get them out to the polls.
I’ve been tracking this work all year and have been consistently wowed by the strategic analysis that shaped MoveOn’s work, as well as their focused and steadfast execution.
They are engaging these voters from all angles. Handwritten postcards, phone calls, microtargeted ad campaigns that are able to ensure that each voter sees the ad most persuasive to them across multiple digital channels, partnerships with social media influencers, and, perhaps most importantly, their innovative community vote tripling program that helps surge voters reach out personally to their family and friends to remind them to cast a ballot—a program that studies show is as much as five times more effective than traditional voter outreach.
Impressive, right?
No organization in America has a better track record of success at using cutting-edge strategies to reach infrequent voters who are on our side than MoveOn. I believe that MoveOn’s electoral program could be the difference between Vice President Harris winning or losing the election. Which is why I’m asking:
Kendall, we all watched January 6 happen in real time. Would you call masked and armed rioters beating police officers with flagpoles, erecting gallows to “hang Mike Pence,” and stalking through the halls of Congress in an attempt to stop the certification of a free and fair election a “day of love,” as Trump recently did?4 Would you proudly refer to yourself as a member of the “we” who did all that?
What do you think our nation’s future looks like if our president believes those things?
We cannot allow that future to become our reality, and it is up to each and every one of us to stop it.
Thanks for all you do.
–Robert Reich
P.S. Stop doomscrolling! The election is close, so that means that all get-out-the-vote efforts can make the difference between winning and losing in battleground states. Ease your anxiety by signing up for one of the daily phone banks to call Harris supporters and ask them to remind their friends and family to vote.

Want to support MoveOn? The MAGA right is declaring war, and Project 2025 is their battle plan. Project 2025 threatens our rights, attacks communities of color, hurts middle- and working-class families, and undermines our democracy. But we will not back down or let Trump steamroll our nation.
Will you start a monthly donation to power and sustain MoveOn’s election plan, stop Trump, and ensure Project 2025 is never enacted?
No, I’m sorry, I can’t make a monthly donation.
