Add your name: Block Trump’s $1.8 billion “anti-weaponization” fund!
Dear MoveOn member,
Donald Trump and acting Attorney General Todd Blanche are launching their “anti-weaponization” fund, which would create a pipeline for Trump to give funds to his political allies, campaign donors, and January 6 insurrectionists.1
Trump is using this “anti-weaponization” fund as a means to provide compensation for people who claim they were directly targeted by the Biden administration’s Justice Department. This is just another example of Trump’s gross abuse of power at the expense of the American people.2
This all began because Donald Trump sued the IRS—a government agency that he’s in control of—claiming that the agency allowed a government contractor to leak his tax returns.3 Then Trump’s cronies at the Department of Justice granted him carte blanche to reach a settlement that created this fund this is the same Department of Justice that has failed to release the Epstein files and protect victims. Instead, they’re giving money to insurrectionists.
Everyday Americans are suffering people can’t afford healthcare, gas, groceries, or to buy a home. But instead of providing economic relief for working people struggling to get by, Trump is abusing his power, greasing the wheels of his own agenda, and taking our tax dollars to hand out billions in payouts for his MAGA allies.
Say NO to using our taxes to enrich Trump and his allies! STOP this outrageous fund!
This is a slush fund with no oversight, no transparency, and no accountability, controlled by a president who can fire anyone he deems an opponent. Now his own allies and associates are eligible to receive payments.
At today’s hearing before the Senate Appropriations Committee, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche claimed that Trump and his family wouldn’t receive payouts, but he refused to commit to saying January 6 rioters wouldn’t receive this money.4 Trump wants to put money directly into the hands of the people who violently attacked our nation’s Capitol, killed innocent people, and attempted to overthrow the 2020 election results all while he’s pressuring states to rig the election in Republicans’ favor.
Thanks for all you do.
