Congress officially just passed a bill that gives nearly $70 billion to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) and Trump has signed it into law.1
Americans across the country are struggling to feed their families, make rent, pay for health costs, but instead of providing relief for everyday people, Republicans have prioritized putting more money into terrorizing our communities.
Republicans are granting unlimited blank checks to the same agency that has killed multiple people this year, including Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Trump’s ICE is out of control, and his MAGA allies in Congress are looking the other way while aiding Trump’s power grabs every chance they have.
To be clear, there isn’t a shortage in the budget for ICE. Last year, the reconciliation package gave the Department of Homeland Security a budget of $191 billion, with more than $100 billion unspent. And at the same time, they cut billions from Medicare coverage.2
Trump and his MAGA allies created a false budgeting crisis so they could have endless taxpayer money for more raids, separating more families, and more deportations. Meanwhile, Republicans have not lifted a finger to help lower our gas prices or the cost of living.
We can’t count on politicians who care more about donations from ICE contractors than their constituents who can’t afford groceries. We’re already working to kick these MAGA Republicans out of office in November. MoveOn just launched a massive election program to flip the House, and every single MoveOn member is needed to build our power.
