We’re running out of time to protect our health care. Tell Congress NO CUTS to Medicaid!
This week, Senate Republicans passed the largest cuts to Medicaid since the program began in the 1960s, a reckless move that would strip health insurance from nearly 12 million Americans over the next decade.1
To pay for Trump’s tax cuts to billionaires and big corporations, Republicans deliberately chose to cut Medicaid funding by $1 trillion and to drastically cut other vital programs like SNAP and housing assistance.2
Medicaid funds health care for nearly 80 million Americans, including older adults, children, pregnant people, and disabled people.3 Gutting the vital health care program would drive up the cost of living for everyday Americans—in direct opposition to Trump’s big campaign promises.
Both on the campaign trail and while in office, Trump has repeatedly vowed to keep Medicaid intact—and it’s no wonder why.4 83% of the public have favorable views of Medicaid, and, in fact, people want to see increased spending on Medicaid—not cuts.5 Recent polling also shows that defunding Medicaid is deeply unpopular among voters across party lines.6
Tell Congress: NO CUTS to Medicaid!
JD Vance has also flippantly dismissed what it would mean to kick millions of Americans off Medicaid, calling the health care cuts “minutiae” and “immaterial”—all in the name of giving billions to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).7
Gutting programs like Medicaid would also create major gaps in state funding and devastate state budgets. It would then, in turn, force states to raise taxes or cut other critical parts of their budget in order to fill the gap.
Health care workers and experts say these extreme Medicaid cuts could result in vulnerable Americans no longer being able to receive care—either because they lose coverage or health care centers in their communities close—and rural hospitals are particularly at risk.8
We can’t allow working families to continue shouldering the burden of Republicans shifting taxpayer dollars to their billionaire friends and ICE. It’s up to us to speak out and demand that our health care be protected.
Sign the petition to tell Congress: Stop playing politics with our health care—protect Medicaid now!
Thanks for all you do.
