Move On – July 13, 2025

Posted on July 13, 2025

Dear MoveOn member,

It’s been a rough summer.

In a season where we could use a little more money in our pockets for barbecues and summer camps, Donald Trump’s tariffs are raising prices on everything from home furnishings to toys to food.1 And Trump just announced a new wave of tariffs on countries such as South Korea and Japan that will hike the price of more goods, including electronics.2

Hardworking Americans are facing a historically poor job market, with more than half of companies planning to downsize or freeze hiring plans in the upcoming year.3

We’re not letting this happen without a fight—which is why MoveOn and partners around the country are hosting Families First peaceful marches, protests, and rallies on July 26. Millions of people can come together to tell Trump and Congress that we see what they’re doing to our ability to support our families, and we won’t stand for it. Now it’s a matter of funding these actions to make those voices heard—from trainings to permits to literal megaphones.

We’re angry, and we need to tell Trump and his Congress we are not letting this attack on our families stand. Will you chip in $5 a month to MoveOn and help drive millions of people to the streets on July 26 and power future protests?

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 a month.

No, I’m sorry, I can’t make a monthly donation.

It just keeps getting worse. The Supreme Court just gave Trump a green light to restart his government layoff spree, with plans to reinstate layoffs in 17 agencies that had been paused by the courts. The State Department has already announced plans to cut nearly 20% of its workforce in the coming days.4,5And Trump’s administration has frozen $6.2 billion in Department of Education funding, affecting public schools’ ability to function nationwide.6

It’s not supposed to be this way.

People are working hard—often two and three jobs—and we should be able to count on good schools, accessible health care, and a growing economy. Instead, our government is undermining our efforts at every turn in order to enrich billionaires and Donald Trump himself.

Help us stop this attack on families! Will you start a $5 monthly donation to power our protest on July 26 and ensure MoveOn has the resources to organize mobilizations in the future?

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 a month.

No, I’m sorry, I can’t make a monthly donation.

After a despicable vote on Trump’s awful budget bill on July 3, Republicans are trying to press “reset” on their constituents and pretend they didn’t just hand a $4.5 trillion tax cut to the mega-rich that explodes the national debt, slashes health care for millions of people, and abandons working families.7

They have been given their marching orders by the Trump administration: Make outlandish and false claims about what the bill will do for middle-class Americans while downplaying the harms.8

That’s why our marching orders are so important. A massive mobilization that gets the facts out about the bill, Trump’s tariffs, and the administration’s destruction of our government will stop Republicans from getting away with their lies.

And just as important, it brings more people on board and gets us ever closer to an overwhelming public grassroots movement that stops the Trump administration entirely.

These movements are resource intensive, and they take time, which is why MoveOn is stepping up for the July 26 action with our national infrastructure. With hundreds of hosts in big cities, small towns, urban centers, and rural areas, providing timely and relevant guidance is critical and a huge undertaking for the MoveOn team.

Your support will help us ensure that these events go off without a hitch and build on the success we’ve seen already this year. Will you pitch in $5 a month to power MoveOn’s work now and in the critical months ahead?

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 a month.

No, I’m sorry, I can’t make a monthly donation.

Each of these protests—from Hands Off! to No Kings to Stop ICE—has been building our power, and we need to ensure that our July 26 protest is a success.

To ensure everyone feels prepared and all events are safe and successful, MoveOn and our partners will be hosting virtual trainings on Zoom, providing written guides, and giving on-demand support to help hosts get the word out about the event in their community, reach out to local leaders who might speak at their events, rent microphones and equipment, and even reach out to the local press.

All of this work is worth it to make a nationwide statement: Our families come first. But we can’t do it alone.

Help us make the Families First day of action far bigger and more beautiful than anything Trump and his cronies can imagine. Will you start a $5 monthly donation to power Families First day of action and future mobilizations?

Yes, I’ll chip in $5 a month.

No, I’m sorry, I can’t make a monthly donation.

Thanks for all you do.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, support for public health policies has gradually declined. At the federal level certain policies and practices regarding vaccines have been thrown into question.

Vaccine proponents note the long-time and widespread benefits of the traditional MMR vaccine; vaccine skeptics generally insist it causes autism. Some say the approval process (Operation Warp Speed for Covid-19) was either rushed or rigged; others say the process was instrumental in reducing suffering and saved the lives of millions of people.
