Dear MoveOn member,
Donald Trump is visiting Los Angeles today to see the damage caused by the recent wildfires that destroyed homes across the city.1
Trump claimed he would “take care of Los Angeles,” but just today he committed to withholding disaster relief if the governor doesn’t pass suppressive voter ID laws or “release water” in the state—a misleading directive that experts have debunked.2,3,4,5
Californians are relying on long-term aid from Trump and Congress to rebuild their lives. We must demand that Donald Trump provide full disaster relief without leveraging the crisis to fulfill his partisan agenda. Will you add your name to the petition and demand that he stop tying political conditions to critical aid for Los Angeles?
Trump is not only tying his political agenda to the withholding of critical aid but has now escalated his attacks by threatening to eliminate federal disaster relief entirely.6 Disaster relief is a lifeline for communities in crisis—people urgently need this support to rebuild their homes, livelihoods, and futures, not to have their suffering exploited as leverage for political gain.
Sign the petition now to demand that Trump stop withholding disaster relief funding to Los Angeles!
Thanks for all you do.
