More than 30 Democratic lawmakers in Congress—and tens of thousands of everyday Americans—have already committed to boycotting Donald Trump’s State of the Union address tonight.
Instead of listening to Trump’s lies and propaganda, they’re participating in our huge live event, The People’s State of the Union, which will be taking place on the mall in Washington, D.C., and livestreamed across the internet!
The event has already been covered in The New York Times and USA Today, by NBC and others.1,2,3 Tens of thousands of people have already signed up to join in. And we continue to get thousands more RSVPs an hour.
Tonight’s People’s State of the Union live event is poised to be one of the biggest livestreaming events in MoveOn’s history, and we’ll hit Trump where it’ll hurt: his TV ratings.
But the unprecedented demand for our live event has created last-minute expenses that we did not budget for, including a $15,000 satellite backup. So we’re asking for your help to ensure that our livestream doesn’t fail.
At Trump’s State of the Union, we already know what will happen: He will tell lie after lie after lie.
In his last SOTU, he lied dozens of times about everything from immigration to his tariff plans to Russia.4
So why would we give him attention for his propaganda tonight? We won’t. We’re boycotting him.
Even better, at our People’s State of the Union, we’re combatting Trump’s lies.
At our People’s SOTU, we will tell the truth—about the chaos, the cruelty, and the callousness created by Trump and his administration.
It’s critical that we pull off our event. We need to provide a credible, factual State of the Union to the American people, counteract Trump and hurt his ratings, and get news coverage and change the public conversation.
