Move On – December 6, 2024

Posted on December 6, 2024

With only 45 days until Trump takes office and an incoming Republican trifecta, senators must BLOCK MAGA loyalists from taking crucial Cabinet positions.

Dear MoveOn member,

We’ve already defeated one of Trump’s most radical Cabinet appointees—Matt Gaetz—from serving as U.S. attorney general. Gaetz was a key partner in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results and faces serious allegations, including sexual assault and sex trafficking minors. Thanks to public pressure, including actions taken by MoveOn members like you, we were able to keep Gaetz out of Trump’s Cabinet. But our work isn’t over yet—we must keep up the pressure and block even more MAGA loyalists from sowing chaos within our country’s most crucial institutions.

Will you join over 45,000 MoveOn members in demanding that senators block Trump’s most dangerous Cabinet picks, including anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist RFK Jr.?

Trump handpicked loyalists whom he knows will fall in line to enact his Project 2025 agenda. Under these nominees’ dysfunctional leadership, American lives will be disrupted as Trump’s corrupt Cabinet appointees destroy our government from the inside. Republicans have already said that they plan to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, defund the Department of Education, and make substantial cuts to pivotal programs such as Social Security and Medicare. Public pressure against these self-serving nominees is working. With Gaetz having dropped out and multiple Republican senators expressing skepticism about Pete Hegseth’s nomination following sexual assault allegations against him, we have the momentum needed to reject Trump’s self-serving Cabinet nominees.1 Click here to add your name to the petition calling for senators to protect Americans from the worst of Trump’s MAGA loyalists.

Thanks for all you do.

–Mia, Kelsey, Nakia, Seth, and the rest of the team

P.S. See our email below from last week for more on the consequences of these nominations and why we need the Senate to reject them as extremist nominees.

We have less than 45 days left with a razor-thin Democratic majority in the Senate. Tell senators to block the MAGA loyalists Trump is picking to serve in his Cabinet.

Dear MoveOn member,

Donald Trump has picked anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. For a moment, imagine the COVID-19 pandemic response under his leadership.

This dangerous nomination is a threat to the health of all Americans, including our children. RFK Jr. doesn’t listen to experts; instead, he traffics in fringe, extremist ideas and outrageous conspiracy theories.2 He is simply unfit and untrustworthy to combat future public health crises, fund lifesaving medical research, and make decisions that affect our health-care access and quality.

In this role, RFK Jr. will be nothing short of a loyal yes-man to Trump’s reckless schemes to take away Medicaid from millions, repeal the Affordable Care Act, raise prescription drug prices, and put our children’s health in jeopardy. Add your name telling Senate Democrats to reject his nomination now.

Matt Gaetz has already withdrawn from being considered for attorney general, because of the concerns coming from the Senate and the general public about his serving in this position.3 We have the momentum on our side and have to show our support to Senate Democrats to keep going and hold the line against these dangerous Cabinet picks.

Trump has picked his most loyal allies as Cabinet members to enforce his authoritarian agenda and disrupt the most essential services for everyday Americans. His nominees are self-serving, they are corrupt, and they present a real threat to our democracy.

Our federal agencies will face major dysfunction under the direction of Trump’s unfit and immoral appointees. Will you sign the petition now demanding the Senate prioritize the well-being of Americans?

Tell the Senate to BLOCK conspiracy theorist RFK Jr. before he jeopardizes our public health.

Sign the petition

,

From our health care to our children’s education, everything is on the line. This is the moment for Senate Democrats to do everything they can to protect our essential government programs and services by rejecting Trump’s dangerous nominees.

There are less than 60 days until Trump takes office and there’s a Republican trifecta, and soon they’ll have the power and agency to do whatever they want. But in the next couple of months, Democrats still have a majority in the Senate and can slow down this process.

It’s clear that if these nominees are given the reins of vital government agencies, every American will be left to suffer the consequences. We can’t allow Trump to select MAGA loyalists who will defend him at all costs and do anything to actualize Project 2025.

We need to pressure the Senate to reject Trump’s extremist nominees who seek to enact his radical Project 2025 agenda. Will you join us by adding your name?

Make no mistake: Trump’s Cabinet appointees have no real interest in serving the American people. Predatory corporations will be the ones that profit under their leadership, while working families face skyrocketing prices and fewer essential services like health care.

Trump is trying to create a society where the rich get richer and the working class have to pay even more out of their pockets, no matter who gets hurt along the way. It’s up to us to stop him when we can.

The consequences of this nomination will touch nearly every household in the country. RFK Jr. is against the science that keeps people healthy—under his leadership, people will get sick. We won’t watch in silence while Trump rams through his nomination.

Thanks for all you do.

–Nakia, Mia, Kelsey, Madeleine, and the rest of the team

Former President Barack Obama recently posted on LinkedIn Abraham Lincoln's understanding of hard work and pulling up the bootstraps for independent success. Lincoln also understood we are not here alone. And we're not meant to solve the world's problems alone. A friend of mine from D.C. and smarter-than-most has taken note of not only these values, but the values of rural America - and what we're doing right here in Benton County. The goal is to accomplish the most in every possible way for the benefit of the majority of the people - and then some! Our political climate has dramatically derailed this goal by dividing our nation. However, we can always take back our flag - take back our values - take back our rural ways of life - and take back what it means to be a united front. Below is the original post by Barack Obama and the response from a loved friend who recognizes our "dirt road" lifestyle and our desire to build up our communities. We should all be proud to pull up our boot straps and then turn to those next to us and help them pull up their straps as well. Cheers to you all and I hope to see you next Thursday for our annual Normal and Shirly Miller Leadership Dinner - TOGETHER!MistyChair P.S. And for the love of America - #ProtectOurPublicLands ... Take this special opportunity to enjoy engaging Democratic leaders, connect with fellow Democrats and friends from across the community, and celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary together.

Our annual fundraising event proudly honors Franklin County Senator Valoria Loveland. We are truly delighted to gather with you in celebration of her dedicated service, while also inspiring and supporting the next generation of leaders to step forward and run for office.

Seating is limited, so we encourage you to reserve your tickets early to be part of this meaningful and memorable evening.

Proceeds from this dinner will directly support Democratic candidates running for office in our community this year—helping to build a strong and vibrant future for us all.

A heartfelt thank you to LOCAL UA598 for their continued generosity and support
