The Democratic National Convention kicks off in Chicago today where Vice President Kamala Harris will formally accept the party’s nomination.1 It’s also where she’ll share her vision for how as the next president she plans to take our country forward.
This will be Kamala Harris’s first real time to talk to voters in the primetime spotlight. And it’s critical that we follow up with voters to make sure they hear her message. This election is all about voter turnout, and here’s where we can all make a significant impact to help Vice President Harris win in November and defeat Donald Trump and his Project 2025 agenda.
Friday, August 23: 7 p.m.-9 p.m. ET
Saturday, August 24: 2 p.m.-4 p.m. ET
Sunday, August 25: 2 p.m.-4 p.m. ET
Vice President Harris’s mantra is “We’re not going back,” because that’s exactly where Donald Trump wants to take us. Trump’s Project 2025 shows us exactly his plan to strip away our freedoms and consolidate power for himself and the wealthy few. The plan outlines a path to ban abortion and contraception, eliminate the Affordable Care Act, gut public education, and set us back on progress to address climate change. It lays out a plan to fire hundreds of civil servants and replace them with Trump loyalists who will let him do whatever the hell he wants.2
This is why talking directly to voters about what’s at stake this election is so critical. We have a clear choice to make: electing Trump who will remove decades of progress and just look after himself or Vice President Kamala Harris who will protect and expand our freedoms and fight for us.
MoveOn’s Analytics team has identified the specific people in the closest battleground states that will likely determine the election outcome for all of us, and those are the people we’ll be calling during these phone banks. We’re calling them “surge voters”: people who likely support Vice President Harris but don’t vote every year and probably need a little extra nudge to be motivated to turn out in November. By talking to these voters about the stakes of this election, we can make a huge impact in what is likely to be a very tight race.
