Dear MoveOn member,
This Saturday, in hundreds of communities across the country, people will stand up against ICE’s warehouse detention machine. And we need your help to make it impossible to ignore.
Right now, ICE is converting warehouses built for packages into prisons for people—and they have $45 billion to do it.1 The goal: cage up to 100,000 people at a time, in mega-facilities holding up to 10,000 each—buildings with no adequate sewage, no medical infrastructure, no access to lawyers—dropped into small towns with no warning and no community input.2
It’s already happening all across the country. This Saturday, we fight back—but we need your help.
Here’s what makes this moment different: Communities are winning.
In New Hampshire, public outrage halted a planned ICE warehouse in Merrimack.3 In Tennessee, organizing stopped a detention center that would have caged 16,000 people.4 In Hutchins, Texas, a real estate company refused to sell to ICE after neighbors pushed back.5 When ICE is losing in counties that voted 70% for Trump, we have the momentum.
But ICE has billions to spend and isn’t stopping—and the human cost is already devastating. Since October, 26 people have died in ICE custody, putting this on track to be the deadliest year in the agency’s history.6
This is a mass detention machine being built in our backyards unlike anything this country has seen since Japanese American internment in World War II—and April 25 is our chance to say: Enough.
Your donation today will boost turnout and fund the rapid media push that turns Saturday’s protests into a national story—on social media, in the news, and in the halls of power.
Saturday is just two days away. Chip in $75 now and help us show up—loudly, visibly, everywhere.
We know how to stop ICE warehouses. Now we need to do it everywhere, all at once—in every city and town where ICE is eyeing its next warehouse. That’s what April 25 is about.
Communities are more powerful than cages. Let’s prove it.
Thanks for all you do.
