Moms Rising – March 13, 2026

Posted on March 13, 2026

Dear Friend,

Washington families just made history. 🎉

After over 24 hours of debate, the Washington State House of Representatives has passed the Millionaires Tax (SB 6346)! Champion lawmakers did not waver when faced with 80 amendments, the vast majority from Republicans trying to sink the bill. But lawmakers stood strong knowing that moms, parents, and caregivers from across the state were with them.

Help us say thank you to lawmakers who debated through the night and into the next day to make this win possible. Click here to say THANK YOU for this monumental win.

The Millionaires Tax has already passed the Senate and now heads to the Governor’s desk! This is OUR win. Thank you.

Here’s what this means for Washington families:

Thank lawmakers for this monumental win!

SIGN NOW
✅ Nearly $3.5 billion in new revenue every year—generated from less than 1% of households
✅ Real, sustainable funding for child care, early learning, K–12 education, and health care, with $150 million a year dedicated to early learning
✅ Universal free school meals for Washington students
✅ Expanding the income eligibility for the Working Families Tax Credit and removing age restrictions that hurt young adults and seniors
✅ Removal of sales taxes on diapers and over-the-counter medicines
✅ A pathway to reinvest in programs that have faced millions of dollars in cuts and delaysList item

This would not have been possible without the lawmakers who championed this legislation. Help us show our gratitude: say thank you here!

Only an estimated 20,000 households—the top 0.2% of Washingtonians—will pay a 9.9% tax on income over $1 million. The first $1 million is completely exempt, and it does not apply to home or real estate sales. And because the first $1 million is deducted, if someone earns $1,000,001 their total tax bill would be…..10 cents.

This is a targeted, commonsense solution that protects working people while generating the reliable revenue our state needs.

Lawmakers stood strong for working families—let them know we stand with them too! Say thank you here!

For too long, working families have been fronting the cost of a broken system—choosing between health care and groceries, child care and rent. Today, that starts to change.

We are so grateful to every Representative who voted yes, and to every single one of you who signed on, spoke out, and stood with us. Our lawmakers hear from us often—and together, we showed up loud and clear.

This didn’t happen by accident. It happened because of you and our shared movement. Together, our voices are powerful!

With so much gratitude,

– Lauren, Sara, Maricela, Kristin, Olivia, and the whole MomsRising / MamásConPoder team

BADGER FORUM: Laliik: Sacred Mountain in Bureaucratic Quagmire

    September 1, 2026  12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
    https://badgers.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=722&club_id=392306&emtid=3209205288255

Our iconic Rattlesnake Mountain is known as Laliik to Native Americans, for whom the mountain has been sacred for millennia.  The oft repeated and dubious local claim that it's the tallest treeless mountain neglects the true significance of its geology and ecology.  Its incorporation into the Hanford Site in 1943 initiated a complex history of federal involvement, culminating in its current and persistent off-limits status.

This forum will describe the mountain's history, geology, ecology, and cultural significance and seek to understand perspectives on possible futures for one of the region's treasures.

    Tri-City Democrats - Friday, September 11, 6:00 PM

    September 11, 2026  6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Round Table Pizza, 3201 W Court St, Pasco, WA 99301, USA

It's September, and time for our monthly gathering. We'll meet on September 11 at 6pm.  We are inviting candidates who have made it through the primary to come visit with us. We will also have 'Hate Has no Home Here' and 'Vote Blue' signs available.

We are hoping that the weather will cooperate for a picnic at the farm - 4501 W Lattin Ct, West Richland, WA. If it's hot, we have plenty of shade and misters and sprinklers to take the edge off the heat. If it's cool, we have firepits and patio heaters to take the edge off the chill. We have the Pasco Round Table reserved in the event that the weather does not cooperate, and we'll make a final announcement on Wednesday the 9th. Come gather with like-minded folks and share some fellowship, food and beverages. If we are picnicking, bring a dish to share, and Tri-City Democrats will provide utensils and plates, and napkins. If we're at the pizza location, TCD will purchase an assortment of pizzas to share. You're on your own for salad bar and beverages, though there are usually pitchers of beer provided by fellow members. We'll have the donation box available for those who care to financially support the group.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this forum will detail how remarkable it and the Constitution were. Professors Jamie Mayerfeld (UW) and Johann Neem (WWU) will explain how Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, and others, based on principles gleaned from the ancient history of the Greeks and Romans, along with contemporary ideas of the Enlightenment, forged an unprecedented synthesis, resulting in a paradigm shift in governance from monarchy to self-determination.

    It wasn’t easy.

In this hybrid program these professors will explain the context, the struggles, and the underlying principles anchored in these two founding documents to help us gain a deeper appreciation of how our country brought forth a new age of liberty and governance, one determined by “We the People….”
