As we expected, Donald Trump made a lot of outrageous, misleading claims at last night’s debate. But Ben, I want to talk about what he didn’t say:
Trump once again refused to say whether he would veto a national abortion ban.
He dodged the straightforward question entirely, saying that it “doesn’t matter” because Congress “would never pass one.” Well, Ben, I think Americans everywhere would agree when I say that it actually does matter.
Trump campaigned on a promise to overturn Roe v. Wade, then proudly claimed credit when his hand-picked Supreme Court Justices did exactly that. And we know that a second term would all but guarantee anti-choice extremists can finish what they started and fully ban abortion nationwide.
Attacks by Donald Trump and his extremist allies have dramatically limited access to reproductive care, endangering the lives and wellbeing of women across the nation – and they’re not done yet.
We cannot let anti-choice extremists succeed. This is the fight of our generation.
Together, we can fight for a future where every woman has full freedom to make decisions about her body and has access to the care she needs.
