Today, the Supreme Court heard arguments in a case that could determine the future of emergency abortion care.
Idaho’s near-total abortion ban, enacted in the aftermath of Dobbs, criminalizes physicians in the state who perform an abortion, even when the mother’s life is at stake. This law is one of the most extreme in the nation, and is in direct opposition to the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).
Let’s be clear: allowing states to ignore federal protections of potentially life-saving care will have disastrous consequences.
Anti-choice extremists’ attacks on reproductive health care are not about “protecting life” – they’re only concerned with exerting control on women’s bodies, even if that means putting millions’ health and lives at risk.
This is the fight of our generation, and we can’t lose.
Thank you for always fighting with me,
