My team and I have sent you a few messages this week about our ongoing fight to end gun violence. But the importance of addressing this crisis truly cannot be overstated.
Far too many Americans have experienced the pain of losing a loved one to gun violence.
We made huge progress by passing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. This legislation created grants to help states implement crisis intervention programs like red flag laws, enhanced background checks for individuals under 21, and closed the “boyfriend loophole” so domestic violence abusers cannot possess or purchase a firearm.
But, there’s still more work to do.
Groups like Everytown for Gun Safety were instrumental in advocating for this historic legislation, and continue to be a leader in the nationwide fight to end gun violence. Will you rush in a split donation to help us keep fighting for solutions that keep our communities safe?
I’m proud of the important steps we’ve already taken to protect America’s children, keep our communities safe, and reduce the threat of violence across our country – but it’s just a start.
It’s going to take a collective, sustained effort from all of us to end the scourge of gun violence once and for all.
