Hi there,
We received some huge news over the weekend. The Yakima Herald-Republic endorsed Maria Beltran’s campaign to be the next State Senator for the 14th District!
Here is what they wrote:
And here comes Maria Beltran.
The Democrat who’s challenging King grew up in the Yakima Valley, becoming the first in her family to graduate from high school, advancing to Yakima Valley College and then ultimately earning a degree from Gonzaga University…
Driven by the experiences of living in a family of farmworkers, Beltran places a high priority on state support for schools, affordable housing and workplace equity.
“The bottom line is that the residents of this district have waited too long for representation that genuinely understands the struggles they live throughout Central Washington,” she told the Herald’s editorial board in an email. “I’ve lived those struggles myself. My family is still living those struggles.”
In our minds, Beltran’s life experiences give her the slightest edge in this race…
The Herald Republic’s Editorial Board continue:
We think Beltran, however, brings fresh energy and empathy that could lead to fuller and more meaningful engagement among the district’s residents…
We see the makings of a dynamic and effective leader who could bring homegrown relatability to a wider range of voters.
Maria’s campaign has all the momentum right now, but with only 8 days to go until ballots are due, and 3 days until our final end of month budget deadline, we have to keep moving forward. We are trying to raise an additional $3500 before midnight on October 31st. Can you chip in to help?
Thank you,
Vanessa
