Breaking: the PAC attacking Maria with false claims about her stance on “defund the police” is funded by big business.
“Big business donors are pumping beaucoup bucks into Central Washington to sink three Democratic Latinas’ chances of getting elected.” — Tri-City Herald
Walmart, Amazon, and Koch Industries were top contributors to People for Jobs, the PAC responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of attacks against Maria and other Democratic candidates in the region. Their goal? To keep Maria out of Olympia.
According to the Tri-City Herald, the PAC “…is spreading stark messages through campaign mailers that Washington Senate hopeful Maria Beltran would ‘defund the police and make Washington less safe.’”
And their primary talking point against Maria is a lie: Maria has been clear throughout this campaign that she supports hiring more police officers and making sure law enforcement has enough resources to protect and partner with our communities.
It’s a shame Maria’s opponent and his supporters are willing to lie to win an election.
We need your help to combat the hundreds of thousands of dollars in attacks against Maria. With just a few days left, our campaign urgently needs resources to make sure our message doesn’t get drowned out by disinformation. Can you help fund our voter outreach efforts today?
Thank you for your support,
Team Beltran
