I’m writing to you today to share some exciting news. I am excited to officially announce my candidacy for State Senate in the new 14th District!
I am proud to have been born and raised in Yakima. Today, I launch my campaign to give a voice to people who, for generations, have never had a voice in our community. As the daughter of immigrants, I learned from an early age the values of hard work and integrity, learning from my parents as they picked crops to provide for our family. Later, I would then go on to become the first in my family to graduate from high school and college.
My experience tackling our state’s biggest challenges, working in both state and local government, will allow me to hit the ground running to deliver for our community. Working families and individuals are struggling to keep up with the cost of living and getting access to critical programs. I will work tirelessly to bring state resources back to the Yakima Valley to help address our housing, workforce shortages, and behavioral and healthcare needs. I will work with everyone, advocates, and local and regional municipalities to deliver results for our community.
I’m honored to kick off my journey on the campaign trail with endorsements from, Yakama Nation Councilmember Asa Washines, State Senators Rebecca Saldaña and Javier Valdez, State Representative Debra Entenman, Yakima City Councilmember Danny Herrera, former Sunnyside City Councilmember and State Senate Candidate Bengie Aguilar, local and nonprofit leader Laura Armstrong, professor and Yakima resident Maria Cuevas, Ella Adelante Executive Director Maria Fernandez, former Yakima County Commissioner Candidate Angie Girard, and founder of Rural Americans United Doug White.
During this early stage in the campaign, it is crucial to show that we have the support to be a serious candidate in this race. Will you help us by contributing today?
I look forward to earning your support. Central Washington is such a special place for me. I hope to make sure that every child growing up here can have the same and more opportunities that I’ve had, and can raise their children and grandchildren right here in our community.
Thank you,
Maria Beltran
