March For Our Lives – September 19, 2026

Posted on September 19, 2026

Newly released federal data from the CDC shows something profound about the movement to end gun violence: when we invest in life-saving solutions, they work.

In 2025, overall fatal shootings fell for the fourth consecutive year, reaching their lowest point in six years. Even more striking, firearm homicides dropped by 16% — reaching a 12-year low. That drop didn’t happen by accident. It happened because of sustained community violence intervention, grassroots organizing, and relentless advocacy from young people across the country.

When we address the root causes of violence, we bend the curve.

But the CDC report also delivered a heartbreaking reality:

  • Record-High Suicides: More than 28,000 people died by firearm suicide in 2025 — the highest number ever recorded.
  • Young Lives at Risk: While overall gun deaths among minors decreased, firearm suicides among children and teens jumped by 15%.
  • The #1 Threat to Youth: For the sixth year in a row, firearms remained the leading cause of death for American children, outstripping car crashes, overdoses, and cancer.

Public health experts point out a clear contrast: while we have poured real energy into interrupting community homicide cycles, we haven’t mounted a fast enough, concerted effort to address crisis intervention, secure storage, and youth mental health support.

We know that in a moment of crisis, access to a firearm turns a painful moment into a permanent loss. With tens of millions of new firearms entering American homes over the past few years, our mission to educate, organize, and protect young people is more critical than ever.

We cannot celebrate partial progress while thousands of families are left grieving in silence. We have to show up for every life threatened by gun violence.

So, will you chip in $15 today to fund March For Our Lives’ youth organizing, suicide prevention awareness, and grassroots advocacy campaigns nationwide?

Thank you for standing with us through every milestone and every fight. Together, we will build a future free from gun violence, in all its forms.

Vote for Derek Sarley for State Representative!Derek Sarley is the only candidate left on the ballot that is committed to serving; Skyler Rude is running to be a placeholder and has already said he will NOT serve.
