When we talk about gun violence in America, it’s so often discussed in data points, policy debates, and fleeting daily news cycles. But you and I both know the truth: behind every single statistic is a life changed forever.
Too often, the media moves on, and the human beings at the center of this crisis are flattened by the noise around them. We refuse to let that happen.
That’s why March For Our Lives is incredibly proud and deeply moved to run The Living Record.
The Living Record is a digital archive created to hold these profoundly personal experiences. It exists to ensure that the people who have lived through gun violence, and those who love them, are seen, heard, and remembered in their own words.
It is a living, breathing testament to survival, memory, and truth, shared directly by the people who lived them.
But building, maintaining, and growing an archive of this magnitude takes immense resources.
We need to protect these stories, give survivors a safe platform to share them, and ensure that lawmakers can never look away from the human cost of their inaction.
We built this space because memory is a form of resistance. When we tell our stories on our own terms, we reclaim the narrative. We remind the world exactly what we are fighting for.
Please take a moment to visit the new site, read the accounts of courage and grief, and if you are able, chip in to help us fuel this vital work.
Thank you for standing with survivors, and for helping us keep their stories alive.
