December 14, 2012.
It’s a day that many of us remember — but it’s the day that changed my life forever.
I was in school just a few miles from Sandy Hook Elementary School, and we were under lockdown for hours.
I thought I might die right there in my classroom.
Then I found out that I knew some of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. Even though I was only in sixth grade, I knew I had to do something.
That’s how I became an advocate for gun violence prevention. I spoke at the first March For Our Lives protest in Washington, DC, after years of organizing lobbying events, rallies, and meetings with members of Congress to enact change.
Thank you,
Jackson Mittleman
