It’s Women’s History Month.
Gun violence isn’t an uncommon threat for many women. Unfortunately, it’s a daily reality.
Over half of female homicide victims are killed by intimate partners, and when an abuser has a gun the risk of homicide skyrockets. In addition, perpetrators of mass shootings often kill an intimate partner or family member during the shootings.
That’s why Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) matter: they give families and courts a way to temporarily remove firearms from someone who poses an imminent danger.
We know ERPOs save lives — it’s common sense — but the gun lobby is spending to block these kinds of gun safety reforms and roll back any current protections we have.
Thank you,
