We have some news out of Washington, and for once, it’s the kind that fills us with real hope.
Representative Suhas Subramanyam just introduced a groundbreaking package of bills to keep our communities and our kids safe from gun violence. And guess who is right there co-sponsoring it? Our very own Maxwell Frost.
Before Maxwell was making waves in the halls of Congress, he was here on the ground with the MFOL team, organizing alongside us. He knows firsthand that culture shifts take grassroots power, and policy must follow.
If you agree, join us by signing our petition in support of the Protect Every Pre-Schooler Act.
Did you know current federal gun safety regulations only cover K-12 campuses? That’s a massive blindspot that the gun lobby relies on. Our littlest learners; kids in preschools and early childhood centers – deserve the exact same safeguards as older students. This bill closes that gap for good.
But Representative Subramanyam didn’t stop there. He also introduced the Gun Safety Innovation Opportunity Act to tackle unauthorized gun access.
Right now, an overwhelming 70% to 90% of guns used in youth suicides, school shootings, and accidental shootings among kids are found at home or in the homes of relatives. This bill injects $10 million annually into researching smart biometric technology, like fingerprint access, to ensure a firearm can only ever be fired by its proper owner.
We know everyone is tired of being angry. We are too. That’s why we’re pivoting our energy into celebrating wins, driving innovation, and backing leaders who refuse to accept inaction. We survived a hostile administration once by building an unshakeable grassroots movement, and we can do it again.
In solidarity and hope,
