David here with an update from on the ground in Houston.
Yesterday, I was out knocking on doors with State Senator Molly Cook and our endorsed congressional candidate Christian Menefee — and at the very first door we hit, something extraordinary happened that I haven’t stopped thinking about.
A woman opened the door and immediately lit up. “Oh my God, are you Senator Molly Cook?” she asked. Molly smiled and said, “Yes, I am.” Molly was an LWD endorsed candidate last cycle. We invested $310,000 in her race, I knocked doors for her in the Texas heat along with 50 volunteers, and I was right there with her on Election Night, when she won by just 62 votes. This interaction was a really powerful, full circle kind of moment that reminded me why we’re doing this game-changing work and just how much of a positive impact our candidates are having on their communities.
That same woman recognized me too. She came over, hugged me, and told me she couldn’t wait to vote for Christian. And this was the FIRST door we knocked! If you’ve ever canvassed before, you know that there’s nothing better than a great first door to keep your energy high and make you forget about your sore feet!
Christian and Molly are leaders we deserve. And thanks to generous grassroots support from people just like you, voters in Houston know who they are, and even better, are excited to vote for them!
The work we’re doing together is working. The money we’re raising and advice we are giving just helped Christian’s team substantially increase ads on TV when they didn’t think they could. And guess what? People on the doors recognize him now from those ads about suing Trump and standing up for our rights. One voter told him outright: “You look trustworthy.”
We are changing the face of power in this country. We’re not just helping these young leaders run, we’re helping them win. But we can’t afford to let up now.
We have just days until this election. Every dollar we raise helps us keep pushing, in Houston, Atlanta, and NYC, where we have opportunities to make real change.

P.S. Before we knocked doors, Christian’s son came out to the canvass launch and played football with us. He even introduced himself like his dad: “I’m Christian Menefee and I’m running for Congress.” It was adorable.
