Leaders We Deserve – March 16, 2026

This is exactly why I left the DNC:

Even after Democrats faced historic losses in 2024, and allowed Trump back into the White House, a lot of folks in the establishment are STILL convinced that we need to play it safe. They don’t want us to challenge sitting Democrats in safe seats.

I’m no longer a DNC Vice Chair because I decided that I could make more of an impact electing the next generation of leaders here at Leaders We Deserve.

Too many Democrats in D.C. are silent, complacent, and beholden to special interests. They treat public office like something they’re owed — not a responsibility to earn from the people they serve. To get our party out of this moment we have no other choice but to embrace rigorous competition in our safe blue seats to challenge ourselves to be better. We need voters to turn out for us because they actually believe in our vision for the future of the country not simply because we’re not Republicans.

At Leaders We Deserve, we’re building a new generation of young, progressive leaders — an inspiring vision for the Democratic Party that people actually like and are excited to vote for. Importantly, these young leaders are not just younger versions of the people currently in power. They are principled leaders with the backing from us so they can remain independent of special interest groups. That’s why we exist — not just to elect young people but to give people of all ages a genuine sense of hope that while politics is broken there is a new generation of young leaders coming into power who aren’t corrupt and will actually represent them. To do that we have to elect better leaders in our purple seats and our blue seats and challenge those in our own party who fail to meet the moment.

That is exactly why we’re endorsing Democratic primary challengers like Justin J. Pearson and Donavan McKinney — and we’re doing it because Democrats deserve better than ineffective leaders who cling to power instead of working for their constituents.

We can flip the script and send new leaders to Washington — young progressives who are ready to fight for what matters.

We refuse corporate money, as do our candidates. Making this change is hard but we can do it with your support. Will you pitch in $25 now?
