Leaders We Deserve is officially endorsing Claire Valdez for NY-07 and Nate Blouin for UT-01!
The future of the Democratic Party will be built by candidates who come from working communities, fight unapologetically for working people, and refuse to be bought by billionaires and corporate PACs.
Claire Valdez and Nate Blouin aren’t just part of that future — they’re building it right now.
Claire Valdez is a New York State Assemblymember and union organizer who got her start in politics fighting for workers on the shop floor. As a member of UAW Local 2110, she helped organize her coworkers and negotiate contracts before bringing that same fighting spirit and fierce advocacy to the state legislature. In 2024, she took on the Democratic establishment machine after sexual harassment allegations surfaced against the then-incumbent — and won the three way primary by 27 points.
In Albany, she’s introduced legislation to limit workplace surveillance, require just cause for work termination, cap regulated rent, and set stricter timeframes for landlords to return security deposits. When ConEd hiked rates by 13% and her constituents were left wondering how to afford their gas bill, she helped pass legislation requiring gas and electric companies to give 45 days notice before any rate increases. Claire Valdez is exactly who she says she is — a fighter for the working class.
Now Claire’s running for Congress in New York’s 7th District to take on the challenges facing everyday families. She’ll fight for stronger unions, more affordable housing, and universal health care — and she’ll do it as someone who has lived these struggles firsthand.
Nate Blouin is a Utah State Senator and clean energy advocate who took on a 36 year incumbent and won. His very first bill as a state senator was to save the shrinking Great Salt Lake, whose disappearance would put hundreds of thousands at risk from air pollution as the drying lakebed exposes toxic dust that gets picked up by the wind and blown into the surrounding population centers. Nate has also passed landmark legislation modernizing Utah’s power grid for clean energy, and fought corruption in his own state’s attorney general’s office. Utah is growing fast, and its residents deserve a member of Congress who has spent his career fighting to protect the environment — someone with real skin in the game who will actually be around to see the world that legislation builds.
And Nate knows firsthand how difficult it can be to make ends meet. After college, he struggled under the weight of student debt and relied on SNAP benefits to get by. Those experiences shaped his unshakeable commitment to lowering costs for working families.
That’s why in Congress, he’ll fight to make housing and energy more affordable, take on big corporations and billionaires, and fight for Medicare for All. In his primary, Nate will face off with Ben McAdams — a pro-life Democrat who doesn’t represent where this district is headed (you heard me right… Nate’s opponent is a pro-life Democrat…). We can’t let him stand in the way of this movement.
People-powered campaigns like Claire and Nate’s are the only way we’re going to break the grip billionaires and corporate PACs have on our politics.
