Leaders We Deserve – July 27, 2026

I’m sure you’ve heard the news.

DNC Chair, Ken Martin, is busy throwing phones at staffers, forcing officers to sign NDAs in order to see the budget, and mortgaging the DNC’s headquarters just to keep the lights on.

One thing is clear: The establishment is in complete disarray.

When I was Vice Chair, I saw the writing on the wall. I saw firsthand that the establishment wasn’t willing to do what it takes to restore trust in our party and win. It’s why I walked away.

And now the absolute chaos inside the DNC is undeniable. Even James Carville, who has not historically been my biggest fan, has suggested that I step in as chair and fix this mess.

Let me be clear: we’re in a critical, must win election year. This is the moment to be aggressively building grassroots infrastructure, mobilizing voters, and supporting leaders who will break the GOP’s grip on power and give us a real fighting chance in 2028.

Instead, Ken Martin and the DNC are managing decline — to the tune of $18M in debt while Republicans outraise us 8 to 1.

All of this coming on the heels of Ken Martin botching the 2024 election autopsy, failing to answer basic questions about why we lost to Trump again and what we’re going to do about it (not to mention the fact that he left the entire “Conclusion” section blank!).

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it: the solution to our party’s failure is NOT going to come from inside this DNC.

These political insiders are trapped in a cycle of damage control and self preservation. If we want a movement that actually fights for working people, is capable of taking on Trump’s agenda, and winning — we have to get in the dirt and do it ourselves.

That’s exactly why Leaders We Deserve exists. We do the work the establishment is refusing to do. We don’t protect the status quo. We back candidates who won’t hesitate to take on MAGA extremism and who actually have the guts to fight for the people not corporate special interests and give us hope for the future.

And we need you with us today to continue doing the work of electing a truly new generation of leaders that will return the Democratic party to a winning coalition in 2026 and beyond.
