This is who Demi is. An Illinois National Guard member, and one of the most fearless candidates we’ve backed this cycle. She’s consistently spoken out against Trump’s cruel and reckless use of our military — because she’s worn the uniform and she knows what it actually costs when politicians treat servicemembers as pawns for their own political ambitions.
Jyot Singh grew up in the heart of Gwinnett County as the son of Punjabi immigrants, and has spent over a decade organizing Georgians. He knows firsthand what it looks like when the government fails working families: navigating life without healthcare, the anxiety of skyrocketing housing costs, and seeing school funding cut in the communities that need it most. Those experiences didn’t just shape the kind of candidate he is — they’re his guiding light. Jyot helped secure $1.4 billion in funding for Gwinnett County Public Schools, the largest education investment in the county’s history. He’s also spent years doing civil rights advocacy for the South Asian community, working at the Federal Defender’s office.
Jyot would be the first Sikh state legislator in Georgia’s history, representing a district that has one of the fastest growing AAPI communities in the South. In Atlanta, he’ll fight to expand Medicaid, end the insurance industry’s game of frivolous claim denials and restrictive authorizations that keep care out of reach, keep housing accessible for the working families and immigrant communities that built Gwinnett into what it is, and stand tall against federal overreach to protect the rights and dignity of his neighbors.
Bentley Hudgins has spent over a decade on the frontlines of Georgia politics. From registering hundreds of thousands of voters and stopping over 35 anti-LGBTQ+ bills as Georgia State Director for HRC to helping over 20,000 Georgians access COVID vaccines. And when gun violence knocked on their own neighborhood’s door at Longdale Park, they built a community tracking system, brought the data to DeKalb County commissioners, and secured $300,000 to clean up and revitalize the park.
In Atlanta, Bentley will fight to expand Medicaid, pass the Georgia Civil Rights Act to protect against discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity, end ICE cooperation with local law enforcement, ban private prisons, and invest in the kind of community violence prevention that actually works.
Bentley would be the first Japanese American and openly non-binary person ever to serve in the Georgia State Legislature. And since District 90 is one of the bluest districts in Georgia, winning the primary on May 19 is critical. Bentley has what it takes to lead Georgia in a new direction — we just have to get them there.
Ken McCool made history when he became one of the youngest elected officials in North Carolina’s history at 21 years old. Since then, he’s served as Mayor Pro Tem, expanding affordable housing options, securing the largest park investment in Matthews’ town history, and helping recruit the Hendrick Advanced Manufacturing Campus, bringing in high-paying jobs and new industry to the region.
In Raleigh, he’ll fight to lower costs for working families, protect reproductive rights, and make sure Mecklenburg County gets its fair share of investment in education, transit, and public safety.
Ken will face off with incumbent Tricia Cotham, a Democrat turned Republican who cast the deciding vote to restrict abortion access in North Carolina and won her seat by just 206 votes in 2024. District 105 is competitive, but winnable, and Ken has spent his career proving that good government is about showing up and delivering for your constituents. That’s why he’ll win.
Armando Montero grew up in Tempe as a proud product of Arizona’s public schools. When the state legislature spent years attacking those same schools, he decided to take action. At just 19 years old, he made history as the youngest person ever elected to the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board. In his first year, he led the adoption of a groundbreaking mental health policy that transformed how the district delivers services to students. He rose to Board President where he improved teacher pay and retention, helped the district earn an A rating from the Arizona Department of Education, and continued to fight to protect the schools and students his state legislature left behind.
In Phoenix, he’ll fight to fully fund public schools, expand affordable housing options, tackle Arizona’s growing water crisis, and make healthcare accessible for working families.
Armando’s approach to public service and dedication to delivering for Arizonans is exactly what the state legislature needs more of. LD-12 is one of the seats Democrats need to flip in the Arizona House, and with Armando’s deep community ties and proven track record, he’s built to win it.
Cat Clayton isn’t a career politician — and that’s her strength. As a software and data engineer, she’s spent her career solving complex problems through careful analysis and collaboration. She grew up watching Missouri’s GOP supermajority overturn citizen ballot initiatives like paid sick leave and now the abortion rights amendment, push extremism into classrooms, and ignore the will of the people. It was then that she decided the only way to fix what’s broken in Missouri government was to put her problem solving skills to use and change the system from the inside.
In Jefferson City, she’ll fight to strengthen public schools, lower costs for working families, protect reproductive rights, and approach government with a sense of transparency and accountability.
Democrats lost HD-105 by just 898 votes in 2024. Breaking Missouri’s GOP supermajority depends on democrats winning in districts exactly like this one — and Cat’s fresh perspective, analytical approach, and deep roots in the community make her exactly the candidate to flip it.
Every candidate I’ve talked about today is a courageous fighter who has what it takes to lead our Democratic Party in a new direction. And they have something else in common: They don’t take a dime from corporate PACs or special interests. They answer to the people they serve. They are powered entirely by grassroots supporters like you. And that’s what makes them worth fighting for.
Thank you,
David Hogg
