66 veterans and their military families were arrested at the Capitol in DC yesterday for protesting Trump’s immoral, illegal, and astronomically expensive war in Iran.
Leaders We Deserve-endorsed candidate Demi Palecek was one of them.
Demi, alongside dozens of other veterans and their families, stood in the rotunda holding red tulips to honor the Iranian civilians killed by U.S. strikes. They held a flag-folding ceremony to pay respect to the 13 U.S. servicemembers who have died so far. And they called for an end to this senseless war.
And one by one, Capitol Police zip tied their hands and took them into custody.
This is who Demi is. An Illinois National Guard member, and one of the most fearless candidates we’ve backed this cycle. She’s consistently spoken out against Trump’s cruel and reckless use of our military — because she’s worn the uniform and she knows what it actually costs when politicians treat servicemembers as pawns for their own political ambitions.
These are the kinds of leaders we’re proud to back. The ones who don’t just talk about their convictions. They live by them, no matter what it costs.
Thank you,
David Hogg
