THE SEATTLE TIMES EDITORIAL BOARD RECOMMENDS A NO VOTE ON I-2109
This week, we’re celebrating the Seattle Times Editorial Board’s recommendation to vote NO on I-2109!
Here’s what they had to say: “Voters should look at the capital gains tax as an investment — an investment in Washington’s future made by those fortunate enough to have amassed great wealth. Washington voters should reject Initiative 2109 on the November ballot.

Child care and preschools not only give children a strong foundation, they help boost the economy by allowing both parents to work while their children are in a safe learning environment. Quality child care is also good for businesses as it cuts down on employee absences.
As voters mark their ballots in the coming weeks, they should put preserving Washington’s future above preserving millionaires’ fortunes. A “no” vote on Initiative 2109 is a “yes” for Washington families.” Read the full article here.
WE TALKED WITH KUOW TO SPREAD THE WORD AGAINST I-2109
Last week, we spoke with KUOW on Soundside, making the case for why voters must vote NO on I-2109.
Our executive director, Treasure Mackley, represented the NO on I-2109 campaign, emphasizing that parents, child care and education professionals, child advocates, small businesses, and more than 150 organizations oppose I-2109 – because if it passes, its impacts will be devastating for our state.

“The thing about Initiative 2109 is this is a measure that would repeal the capital gains tax and give a tax break to the wealthiest Washingtonians, while taking away billions of dollars from education, school construction, early learning, and childcare.”
YOU CAN TAKE ACTION TODAY TO DEFEAT I-2109
We’re joining the NO on I-2109 campaign in phone banking and canvassing over the next few weeks – and we need your help!
As voting approaches, it’s more important than ever to make sure every voter knows what’s at stake. Sign up now to volunteer! You can also donate to the campaign to support voter education efforts in the coming weeks, or write a letter to the editor to spread the word in your community.
Speaking directly with voters is one of the most effective ways we can defeat I-2109. Phone banks are virtual, and the NO on I-2109 campaign will provide training and support. Canvassing can be done in your own area, so all of us can work together to educate voters.
Together, we can defeat I-2109. Thank you for taking action to support a fair and just tax code in Washington!
