By now, you know we’re fighting hard for the Millionaires Tax (SB 6346) to fund education, health care, and other basic needs. We have big news: the Senate could vote on SB 6346 anytime.
That means it’s time to increase the volume! We’re trying to reach our legislators before they vote any day now – this time by calling to show our support. Can you take 5 minutes to call your lawmakers today?
We’ve made it super easy for you to act: just fill out a form with your info and you’ll be connected to the voicemails of your State Senators and Representatives. We’ve even prepared a sample script for you to follow.
The Millionaires Tax would raise nearly $3.5 billion for education and health care from just a modest 9.9% tax on annual income over $1 million. That applies to only 0.2% of Washingtonians – the ultra-wealthy. 60% of Washingtonians support the tax, including many of those who would pay it themselves.
When you call your legislators, they listen. You can tell them in your own words why you support the Millionaires Tax. If you’re not sure what to say, our sample script will cover everything you need! Along with that script, here’s some inspiration from others who have spoken in support of the Millionaires Tax:
“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make a real change in our tax code, one that will be felt by the educators here today, and the state employees, and the child care providers, and the health care workers, and the in-home care providers, and the working parents, and the seniors.”
– Rep. April Berg LD-44 (Mill Creek)
“Washington’s tax system forces working people to bankroll a state that lets billionaires off the hook. In this state, the richer you are, the less you pay. The poorer you are, the more you pay. The Millionaires Tax is the line. It says, if you make millions in this state, you will contribute. No loopholes. No freebies. No more excuses.”
– Mike Yestramski, WFSE President
“For too long, rich people like me have paid less than we truly owe thanks to a tax code skewed our way–so our state budget can’t do right by all people. It doesn’t have to be this way. If we don’t fix our tax code now, we’ll lose a generational opportunity.”
– Bryan Kirshner, tech executive
Thank you to those of you who’ve joined us by showing up at rallies, writing letters to the editor, emailing your lawmakers, and signing in pro for SB 6346 legislative hearings! Our collective voices have made a huge difference already – but we can’t stop fighting yet.
Take a few minutes to tell your lawmakers that it’s time for change: pass the Millionaires Tax! Thank you again for taking action.
