In a ploy to win elections, conservative lawmakers are removing millions of mostly Black and brown voters from the voter rolls across the country. Making it harder to vote is their plan to seize and hold onto power. Some conservative billionaires also understand the power of media ownership and the importance of shaping the narrative on America’s most pressing issues. As a result, they’ve altered America’s political landscape in less than three decades.
At Fuse, we are dedicated to making sure Washington doesn’t fall into the trap of billionaire tax cut propaganda and voter suppression. We’ve worked tirelessly to make voting easier for everyone in Washington state, including making automatic voter registration truly automatic, strengthening the Voting Rights Act, eliminating Tim Eyman’s misleading advisory votes, and reducing ballot rejection rates.
Victories like these would not be possible without our year-round organizing and advocacy that gives ordinary people a stronger voice in politics and holds our elected leaders accountable. Washington state’s annual GiveBIG event just began; will you join your fellow progressive advocates and donate to fuel our work?
By joining together across race and place, we can build an equitable and just government that represents us all. Here are the top three ways we’re working to ensure our communities become stronger and healthier than ever:
- Voting justice: Voting rights are under attack across the country. We must lead by example here in Washington by making voting as accessible and representative as possible and support our partners in other states who are fighting back against racist voter suppression laws.
- Economic justice: For too long, the wealthy few and corporations have rigged the rules to avoid paying what they owe in taxes, leaving our state unable to provide for our communities. We must rebalance our tax code and put working people first.
- Affordable housing: Housing is a human right and every person deserves a roof over their head. Our state is experiencing an affordability crisis, so we must increase the supply of affordable homes and integrate our cities both racially and economically.
Thanks for your support and all that you do,
