Last week, Texas Republicans passed House Bill 7, a law allowing private citizens to sue out-of-state abortion pill providers. Abortion is already banned in Texas, but this new law makes it even harder to access abortion medications via telemedicine.
Abortion pills are the safest and most common form of abortion, yet HB 7 creates new hurdles for doctors and pharmacists, particularly targeting telehealth services. People in rural and underserved areas will face even greater barriers to care.
HB 7 is part of the GOP’s strategy to roll back reproductive rights, silence women, and suppress marginalized communities. It’s another step toward a country where the government dictates healthcare access instead of patients and doctors.
Republicans in Texas and Missouri are rewriting the rules to lock in power. Both have passed new congressional maps giving themselves an unfair advantage in the midterms.
Democracy depends on fair maps. Without action, the next elections will be skewed before a single vote is cast.
Here’s a question for you:
Should Democrats in blue states revisit their own maps to ensure fair representation?
Thank you for sharing your opinion.
