Republicans like to say they are the party of “freedom.” They talk about it all the time. Ron DeSantis (remember him?) even released an absolutely tortuous rock ballad about “freedom” in Florida (seriously, watch it here 😬).
But what does it truly mean to be free?
Are you really free if you can’t make your own health care decisions?
Are you really free if you don’t have a voice at your job?
Are you really free if you’re purged from voter rolls and can’t participate in your democracy?
Are you really free if you can’t get health care without going bankrupt?
Republicans say they are the party of freedom, but that’s not the case.
They ban books, restrict speech, make it harder to vote, and make it easier to buy guns. Republicans want to take away health care and health care choices from Americans. They block paid family and medical leave, taking away the freedom to spend time with loved ones early in life, or when they are sick and need us most.
Republicans are the party of freedom? Spare us.
