THE DNC HAS ANNOUNCED AN INITIAL $1.5 MILLION INVESTMENT IN VIRGINIA
Virginia is one of two states with major off-year statewide elections this November, and we will be investing an initial $1.5 million into the Virginia Democratic Coordinated Campaign to win up and down the ballot this year and beyond. This investment will help the VA Coordinated Campaign continue to hire organizers and campaign staff in order to reach as many voters as possible, fund early persuasion programs to ensure that voters have a full picture of the stakes this November, test new outreach tactics to ensure their message is resonating with voters, and expand their reach to critical constituencies they will need to win.
SCOTUS HAS ALLOWED TRUMP’S DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO RESUME MASS LAYOFFS
Earlier this year, Trump ordered mass layoffs at the Department of Education which would have cut its workforce in half — and in a ruling just last week, the Supreme Court cleared the way for him to do just that. This ruling represents another major blow (in a long line of many others) to working-class voters, families, and communities who rely on public services — education in this case — and another example of how Trump’s allies continue to side with his agenda over the people they pledged to protect. Trump has made it clear that dismantling the department is his end goal, but we will fight to stop that from happening.
THE DNC HAS HIT OUR GOAL OF HOSTING A TOWN HALL IN ALL 50 STATES
We have officially hosted a town hall in every state in the country — sending a message that if Republicans won’t show up for their constituents, we will. In March, we announced our goal to host town halls in every state — red, blue, or purple — to reach folks who want to have meaningful conversations about their frustrations and give them effective solutions. This month, we reached our 50th state in Utah. And over the course of four months, we have hosted over 130 town hall meetings, showing up for people when Republicans aren’t.
