The 2024 elections will be decisive for our democracy. Together, “we the people” must hold our elected officials accountable for protecting our democracy. That’s why we are holding monthly legislative briefings and trainings with our friends at the Workers Circle.

The 2024 elections will be decisive for our democracy. Everyone should have the right to participate and hold our elected officials accountable for protecting our democracy. That’s why we hold monthly legislative briefings and trainings with our friends at the Workers Circle.

Join us this Thursday, May 9, at 7:00 PM ET for How to be an Effective Citizen Advocate.

This month, we will cover the Inclusive Democracy Act , which guarantees the right to vote for all citizens regardless of conviction of a criminal offense. This bill would allow an estimated 4.4 million Americans to make their voices heard in federal elections. Voter disenfranchisement for those with a criminal record is a relic of Jim Crow, with one out of 19 Black Americans disenfranchised – 3.5 times greater than that of non-Black individuals.

The second 30 minutes are a legislative visit training so that you can learn or brush up on how to engage your senators, representatives, and their staff. No experience is necessary — all are welcome!
