Minute of US
Minute of US
April 2, 2025 @ 12:53 PM - 12:54 PM
We Pause. We Grieve. We Stay in Motion. We Resist.
So much harm is being done—to our communities, our democracy, and people across the globe. We cannot look away.
That’s why, starting this Wednesday, we’re joining our friends at Choose Democracy for Minute for US—a weekly moment of silence to honor those suffering under this administration and the destruction it’s causing.
Every Wednesday at 12:53 PM (local time), we take a minute to reflect, meditate, or simply bear witness. Do this with friends, family, co-workers, or alone—however makes sense for you.
Why 12:53 PM? That’s the moment January 6th rioters first crossed the barricades—and when the world’s three richest men sat at Trump’s inauguration. This action is about recognizing where we are and refusing to be numb to it.
Join us, and share your reflections with #MinuteOfUs.

April 2, 2025 @ 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
https://www.mobilize.us/surj/event/755241/
The first few weeks into the first 100 days of the Trump administration have already been an onslaught of violence and chaos. White people in particular have an important role to play right now. It is clear that racism is at the core of the MAGA agenda and they rely on the support of a majority white base. This means that fighting white supremacy in white communities is core to how we get out of this political situation.

Humanist Alternatives: A Six-Part Training Course
April 2, 2025 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/763781/
One of the pillars of the rise of fascism in the 21st century has been the void in the articulation of a humanist alternative in the face of the deepening economic, social, political and environmental crises of our time. In order to develop conceptual and practical frameworks for humanist alternatives and constructive collective action, it is necessary to address and discuss the fundamental transformations needed in economic, social, political, and environmental relations on a national and global scale. It is also necessary to be aware of the long history of anti-humanist discourse and to respond to some of those critiques.

The Summit for Religious Freedom or SRF (pronounced *surf*) is the hub for our collective fight for religious freedom, church-state separation, and the issues that depend on them like LGBTQ+ rights, reproductive rights, protecting public schools, strengthening our democracy and more. It’s a big tent — welcoming the diversity of our movement from longtime advocates to those just discovering the issue and its critical role in protecting our democracy, our equality, and our rights. We’re collaborating to defeat the biggest threats to these values including Christian Nationalists and other extremists, along with their political allies, who have launched a coordinated campaign to force us all to live by their narrow, religious beliefs.

We live in an ever noisier communications and marketing environment. In fact the 2024 election was called the “shards of glass” election because there are now over a dozen distinct, not always overlapping media bubbles.
So how do you decide what to say to who, how, when, and in what words? How do you make sure there is a core throughline going through your messaging so it’s authentic, unified, but meets audiences where they are and resonates with them to support your candidate, campaign, or issue?

In this first lab, we look at how non-violent movements around the world have responded to leaders who seize power in authoritarian ways and the most effective tools and tactics to utilize in these moments. We offer frameworks to understand this moment at home, and incorporate interactive conversation with others to help create community and build our resistance movement.

April 16, 2025 @ 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
https://www.mobilize.us/surj/event/774731/
As we move deeper into economic crisis, now is the time for white people to recommit to organizing our own into solidarity, not blame. We know those at the top are spending billions to divide us. Whether it’s blaming immigrants for the housing crisis or poor Southerners for Trump, when working people blame one another, billionaires are high fiving in the background.
Solidarity–showing up for and with each other because we know our lives depend on it– is how we fight division. And we know white people are a primary target for these divide and conquer tactics, and so a necessary group to organize. Join SURJ with leaders from the Chicago Teachers for a conversation, “Solidarity, Not Scapegoats: strategies for organizing the white working class.”

We Pause.

Tips and Tools for Calling Your Repst
Tips and Tools for Calling Your Repst
April 23, 2025 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Our democracy is in crisis. The Trump Administration is moving towards fascism and the Congressional Republican majority refuses to perform its constitutional role of providing checks and balances to the executive branch.
We are not powerless. Congress works for us. It is critical to generate public pressure on Republican elected officials, especially in swing states or districts, to fulfill their constitutional responsibility. It is also important to let the Democratic minority members know that we expect them to be loud and strategic in their opposition. One of the best tools we have to do this is through calls to their offices.

Join Good Trouble, one of the founders of Colorado 50501, and hosts Morgan and Tiffany as we discuss how coalition building can lead to powerful actions like the April 5th protest and where we go from here.
Massive actions like April 5th generate a tremendous amount of energy! We can't let that energy dissipate. We can harness it and turn it into action. We'll break into groups to brainstorm and start planning actions.
We are an action-focused, Indivisible group formed from the Worth Fighting For movement. We are made up of people from across the nation, many in Colorado. We are focused on action rather than just airing political grievances, so please come prepared to talk about what you want to DO to protect vulnerable communities and resist the new administration.

Protect & Resist: First 100 Days Action and Training Program
April 23, 2025 @ 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
https://www.mobilize.us/surj/event/755241/
The first few weeks into the first 100 days of the Trump administration have already been an onslaught of violence and chaos. White people in particular have an important role to play right now. It is clear that racism is at the core of the MAGA agenda and they rely on the support of a majority white base. This means that fighting white supremacy in white communities is core to how we get out of this political situation.
In the midst of the storm, we'll continue grounding together to keep learning, building, and organizing. Mark your calendar for Wednesday nights with SURJ!

Humanist Alternatives: A Six-Part Training Course
Humanist Alternatives: A Six-Part Training Course
April 23, 2025 @ 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/763781/
One of the pillars of the rise of fascism in the 21st century has been the void in the articulation of a humanist alternative in the face of the deepening economic, social, political and environmental crises of our time. In order to develop conceptual and practical frameworks for humanist alternatives and constructive collective action, it is necessary to address and discuss the fundamental transformations needed in economic, social, political, and environmental relations on a national and global scale. It is also necessary to be aware of the long history of anti-humanist discourse and to respond to some of those critiques.
Each session in this course will focus on one of the aspects of the effort to develop humanist alternatives: Labor: Economy, Gender, Sexuality & Family, Education: Critical Thinking, Environment, Health Care, International Relations and solidarity. Instructor: Frieda Afary, Philosophy M.A., M.L.I.S. is a librarian and author of Socialist Feminism: A New Approach
