HYBRID: LIVE AND ONLINE
COMMUNITY ARTS ORGANIZATIONS:
Why They Matter to All of Us
Thursday February 26 | Noon
Arts organizations are fundamental to the vitality of communities. These groups contribute immensely by fostering social cohesion, supporting economic development, and improving a community’s overall well-being.
Through their activities and programs, arts organizations bring people together, encourage stronger social connections, and help cultivate a sense of shared identity among residents. Despite their many contributions, arts organizations are currently facing substantial financial challenges.
To examine these issues, the February Badger Club Forum will examine the status and challenges of funding the arts in the Tri-Cities. The event will feature a panel of representatives from various segments of the community, including those involved in community development and members from arts organizations.
If you are with us in person at the Richland Library or online, we’ll be happy to see you. Please visit our website to register.

Tri-City Democrats – Friday, February 13, 6:00 PM
Greetings fellow Democrats!
This month we’ll meet at the round Table Pizza on Court Street in Pasco. February 13 at 6pm. Come gather with like-minded folks and share some fellowship, food and beverages. As is our normal practice, Tri-City Democrats will order several pizzas to share. We’ll have the donation box available for those who care to financially support the group. Some of our generous members are likely to purchase pitchers of beer to share. If you want the salad bar or soft drinks, you are on your own for those items.
At this writing, we do not have a planned program, but we will have ‘Hate Has no Home Here’ signs available. We will also briefly discuss our budget for 2026.

This February is the 100th anniversary of the start of Black History Month – let’s use it to educate ourselves! Reimagined News is once again putting out daily emails featuring moments, people and movements that are too often ignored – let’s read their entry on community defense against fugitive slave lawsand subscribe for more here
The House has passed the government funding bill and the continuing resolution for Homeland Security appropriations and sent it to Trump’s desk, ending the partial shutdown. We now have nine days to force meaningful change on Trump’s secret police.
It will be a challenge. Designing limits the Trump regime will actually be bound by is a legislative nightmare, and as Pablo Manríquez has emphasized ICE has a $75 billion slush fund to work off regardless thanks to the MAGA murder budget. But there have been some heartening signs of spine, with multiple Democratic senators suggesting they won’t support another stopgap.
☎️ Let’s keep up the pressure – we can find call scripts here focused on taking on the slush fund and send this email with a full list of demands by texting SIGN PMMWLV to 50409, and join Common Cause in phonebanking into key states TOMORROW from 5:30-7:30PM ET. ☎️

Well, this week has been a very tough one. It was great to see those of you able to make it on Tuesday. We have to stay together in these times.
Now, for the week. The key is to call the Senators tomorrow if you can!! We have to tell them NO MORE funding for DHS.

When: Sat, Jan 10th 11 – 1 pm
Where: Columbia Center Blvd, in front of the mall, parking near JC Penny’s
Wednesday, January 7th, an American citizen was killed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.
A broad coalition of groups across the country is calling for a coordinated Ice Out For Good Weekend of Action on Saturday, January 10th and Sunday, January 11th to demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions.
A core principle behind all ICE Out For Good events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. All events should be held in public spaces or on public property.
We are encouraging all to wear black to honor those lives lost at the hands of ICE and to say NO MORE!! Please bring a non-perishable food item if you are able.
Join us for a peaceful demonstration. We look forward to standing with you.
