Hello Democrats,

We hope your year is off to a great start! As of today, the midterm elections are in 39 weeks and 5 days!

This month’s newsletter includes the registration link to the State Party Campaign Bootcamp–a two-day virtual training event for current and prospective candidates, campaign staff, and all those who are dedicated to candidate development. The newsletter also includes the application link for the DNC Campaign Readiness Coalitions bootcamp for folks interested in working in coalitions and community engagement during the midterm cycle.

Let’s work together to make big things happen in this short month!

Best Practices Institute Team

TRAINING AND ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES

2022 State Party Campaign Bootcamp

We are excited to announce the launch of the 2022 State Party Campaign Bootcamp webinar training program!

The State Party Campaign Bootcamp Program is a free two-day virtual training program with supplemental small-group coaching sessions to encourage community building and collaborative learning. This program seeks to support campaigns by ensuring that comprehensive training is free and accessible for Democrats working on campaigns.

Candidates will learn critical aspects of launching and running a successful campaign, hear from special guest speakers, and have the opportunity to hone in on subjects with individualized attention through additional coaching sessions with experts. This training is open to Democratic candidates, potential candidates, and campaign staff.

Campaign Readiness Coalitions Bootcamp

The Campaign Readiness Project is a train-to-hire bootcamp pipeline at the DNC with the goal of supporting states in their recruitment, training, and hiring of diverse, talented, and local staff for specific roles and skill sets on Coordinated Campaigns. Participation in these bootcamps will expand opportunities for consideration for campaign roles in targeted states with the aim of helping elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

Our fourth bootcamp series will center around Coalitions positions and people who meet the outlined qualifications are encouraged to apply. The Coalitions Bootcamp will be held virtually on Saturday, February 26.  Participation in the bootcamp does not guarantee future employment.

Apply for the Campaign Readiness Project Coalitions Bootcamp here. Applications close February 11.

February Activist Challenge
Our monthly Activist Challenge is designed to build infrastructure for Democratic campaigns and organizations through grassroots engagement. Are you ready to accept the challenge, and help elect Democrats up and down the ballot?!

Roses are red, violets are blue, I’m all in for Democrats this month, what about you!

It’s February which means Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. This year, for Valentine’s Day, write your love letters to all the policies and platforms that demonstrate what being a Democrat is all about!

For this month’s Activist Challenge, we are challenging our #BPITraining family to share what being a Democrat means to you.

  • Use the BPI Spotlight Training below to craft your personal story!
  • Use this BPI Relational Organizing Training Mini-Series to share that personal story with all the people you love in your life!

To access these resources, sign up for our BPI Victory Vault (new members added each Wednesday). If you are already a member and need a refresher on how to access the BPI Victory Vault, review our instructions.

Once you’ve crafted and shared your personal story, create a post on social media that includes the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your state or territory
  • Why are you a Democrat?
  • The hashtags “#BPItraining” and “#ChallengeAccepted”
  • ”@TheDemocratsAnd don’t forget to tag “

BPI Spotlight Training
Our new, dedicated Spotlight Training portion of the BPI Newsletter will highlight specific trainings that cover skills and concepts that are core to our work and ask you to revisit those trainings in our BPI Victory Vault. The trainings spotlighted in each month’s challenge will correlate to skill building that we believe is most relevant to the timeframe in which it is recommended, allowing participants to put their new knowledge to work right away.

After reviewing these “spotlight” trainings, we will encourage you to share and implement what you have learned within your local Democratic organizations and groups.

Spotlight Training: Telling Your Personal Story
Review our “Personal Story” slide deck to learn the four straps of telling your story, a powerful tool in your organizing toolkit that allows you to connect with voters, volunteers, donors, and more!

  • To access this training, sign up for our BPI Victory Vault (new members added each Wednesday). If you are already a member and need a refresher on how to access the BPI Victory Vault, review our instructions.
  • Once in the Victory Vault, find the slide deck by searching for the title, “OTW PERSONAL STORY”
  • After reviewing the slide deck, use the corresponding Personal Story worksheet to practice your Personal Story
  • Print the Personal Story Worksheet
  • Craft your personal story to practice with the following scenarios:
    • VOTING: Why you identify as a Democrat.
    • VOLUNTEERING: Why you were motivated to volunteer for Democrats
  • You’re ready to make strong connections through your personal story!

BPI Victory Vault
The BPI Victory Vault contains on-demand training resources tailored toward volunteers, community organizers, activists, and campaigns, which cover a variety of grassroots organizing skills. The BPI Victory Vault continues to grow, with new additions added periodically as resources become available. New members are added each Wednesday, and you must use a Gmail account to register in order to access the BPI Victory Vault Google Drive folder. Check out our BPI Victory Vault instructions if you have trouble accessing the BPI Victory Vault once you receive your email invitation.

The BPI Victory Vault resources are meant for educational purposes only. BPI Victory Vault materials are not downloadable or shareable. Any individual interested in viewing the BPI Victory Vault resources must complete the application in order to request access. We reserve the right to remove individuals from any and all BPI resources in the event of inappropriate use.

Dear Students,You should be damn proud of yourselves! You used your 1st amendment rights to stand up for your peers, your communities, and your nation.
