Today we…
Support new arrivals through education, relationships and community so they can thrive in their new home.
In the future, we will…
Create a community of open hearts, helping hands and supportive systems where strangers become friends and we all thrive.
B5’s Refugee Youth Advocate, Arthur Lopez, has been hard at work delivering gifts to our families and spreading some holiday cheer. He delivered over 70 gifts filled with family games, candy, coloring books, and crayons. Each gift delivered was an opportunity for Arthur to make connections with refugee families and help them feel more at home here in the Tri-Cities.

The gifts that Arthur delivered were generously donated by Jeana and her family. Read her story about why she chose B5 below:
“I come from a large family. There are 8 kids plus my parents. Back in 2020, my older brother suggested that instead of family gifts for cousins and extended family we pool our money and each sibling would take a turn being in charge, and be able to donate to an organization if their choice. It has grown into something so beautiful. Some of my siblings can only give $30 but others can give $300 so we have been able to donate in a bigger way collectively than we ever could individually, the power of being united. This year was my turn!
A couple years ago, I heard Theresa speak at a local rotary club and it touched my heart. B5 does so much good. I knew when it was my turn that I would want to donate to B5.
It has been so fun to see a few people outside of my family want to help after I tell them what we are doing. For instance, I was buying all the crayons at Fred Meyer and the woman ahead of me asked if I worked at a preschool. I told her that I was donating them to a non-profit in Kennewick that helps immigrants and she handed me $20 to help. It was so awesome!
Being able to help in this way really filled me with the true meaning of Christmas and giving. I am thankful for the chance. I really hope it helps in a small way spread a little love and joy at this time of year to the amazing people you work with!”
Generous donors like Jeana help make B5’s vision a reality.
