I wish I didn’t have to write you today. But yet again, we are grieving a horrific and preventable tragedy—this time occurring just days into the new school year at Apalachee High School in Georgia, where four people were killed, families broken, and a community devastated by gun violence.
The shooter at Apalachee High School was armed with a weapon of war – the same type used in countless mass shootings across America. These dangerous weapons have no place in our society, let alone in our schools. Yet, our lawmakers choose to not act, putting us all at risk.
As a parent, I can’t help but feel the rage and frustration that we all share. How many more children must we lose before our country decides enough is enough? How many more schools need to be the backdrop for unspeakable tragedy before our leaders take action?
At the Alliance, we’ve fought tirelessly to prevent moments like this. But we cannot do it alone – we need you with us. This tragic event reminds us how urgent our work is to put an end to gun violence in every corner of our country.
If you are outraged, help us continue our fight to end gun violence once and for all by making a donation today.

In 2024 alone, there have been at 133 incidents of gunfire on school grounds across the country. Despite overwhelming public support for common-sense gun safety policy, we’re still fighting against a broken system that prioritizes the interests of the gun lobby over the safety of our children.

We cannot allow our children to live in fear.
We cannot wait for the next tragic headline.
We need to act now.

We know what it takes to prevent gun violence. In Washington State, we’ve led efforts to pass common-sense policies that keep guns out of dangerous hands. But safety from gun violence shouldn’t depend on where you live. It’s time for Congress to take real action and put an end to this epidemic – and we won’t stop fighting until they do.

Can we count on you to make a contribution to the Alliance today? We need you with us to fuel our work towards a future where we finally have freedom from gun violence.

Thank you for standing with us,
