Let’s do a quick “Naughty and Nice” check-in, Alliance style.

Nice list:

  • Communities organizing for safer schools and safer homes.
  • Voters in Maine choosing a new path to temporarily remove guns from people who pose a danger.
  • Courts in Oregon affirming that common-sense guardrails like permits and magazine limits can stand.
  • Washington passing Permit-to-Purchase

Naughty list:

  • The gun lobby and its allies pushing a federal concealed carry mandate (H.R. 38) that would override states’ safety standards.
  • National leaders who treat “protecting the Second Amendment” as a headline while communities bury the dead.
  • A federal leadership culture that rewards loyalty and spectacle over public trust.

Here is the good news: the “nice list” can and will continue to win. But only if we have the resources to fight and the community to sustain it.
