September date change for Better Practices: Thursday 14 September. State Chair Shasti Conrad is hosting an update meeting on our usual first Thursday date and time.
Our Better Practices session is gun control or, better, how we Message Controlling Gun Violence in our rural communities.
Our Policy Briefing is Opioids in Rural Washington: what are patterns of use, overdose trends, effects on our communities.
Jay Ball is SCM for LD 9. You may have read about him. He also chairs the Columbia County Rural Library Board. The Rural Library’s existence is on the ballot this November. “Dismantling Libraries? This is Washington, not Iran” is how the Yakima Herald-Republic sees it. National media have picked up the story. Check NPR, NYT, or Washington Post. This is about my friend and colleague’s tough time in neighboring Dayton. Read up on the situation, and lend your comfort and support to our neighbors in Columbia County.
