It’s clear that in 2026, we face immense challenges as we begin the second year of the second Trump administration. Here at the ACLU-WA, we’re doubling down on our commitment to protecting freedom everywhere it’s threatened – for all of us. We’re using every tool at our disposal – in the courts, in the legislature, and alongside community.
That brings us to the start of our state’s Legislative Session. At the beginning of every new year, lawmakers return to Olympia. Accountability for these elected officials starts with us. When we act together, our collective power can shape the state we want to live in and strategically push back on the Trump administration.
With you by our side, we will:
- Protect drivers and their data from unregulated surveillance and federal overreach and abuse.
- Increase fairness in the criminal legal system.
- Stop the unfair punishment of our unhoused neighbors.
Making change takes all of us. There’s a role for everyone in the fight to protect our freedoms.
At our Legislative Hub, learn about the bills we’re advocating for and how you can get involved. Showing up in ways big and small can lead to real change: from reaching out to lawmakers, to signing in support of our priority bills or attending an event.
You can get started by registering for our upcoming webinar: Shelter, Not Penalties: Ending the Criminalization of Homelessness in Washington.
And stay tuned over the next few months as we provide more opportunities for you to take action.
Together, we will ensure we have a state that works for us all. We’re grateful to have you by our side as we build a better future for everyone.
