ACLU Supporter –
Election season is upon us, and in many ways, the future of Washington is on the ballot. There’s power in numbers. By voting this November, you have a voice in decisions that will shape the future of your and your loved ones’ lives.
Few things are more important than the success of our young people in determining the course of our state, which is why we oppose I-2109 and urge Washington voters to do the same. This initiative threatens Washington’s ability to satisfy its constitutional mandate to fully fund public education by cutting billions from education programs like childcare and early learning programs, as well as school construction.
The fight for our rights starts at home. Your vote has huge power in local and regional elections to bring about the change you want to see in your own community.
Voting in all races on your ballot is an effective way to ensure your voice is heard by all levels of government. In addition to opposing I-2109, we encourage you to vote up and down the ballot on the races that most tangibly touch your everyday life: fire commissioners, prosecutors, county sheriffs, judges, school board members, and more.
This November, let’s show our local leaders that we will hold them accountable to advocate for our neighbors, family, and friends.
To succeed in school and beyond, Washington’s children need a strong start. Washington voters are right to demand a fully funded public education system and the wealthiest among us can afford to pitch in. We urge voters to vote no on I-2109.
Together, we can protect our rights and drive our country forward.
Let’s get to work.
