That’s why the ACLU is spending $25.5 million in ballot measures and candidate races across the nation to create a firewall for our rights. Learn more about our plans for this election season.
This is our largest investment ever. As President Trump’s second term continues to bring unprecedented federal abuses of power, we’re creating a firewall for our freedom – reinforcing the power of our democracy by educating voters about how state supreme courts and state legislatures impact their rights.
This includes voter engagement work by the ACLU and ACLU Voter Education Fund in races for:
- State Supreme Courts in Michigan, Montana, and North Carolina
- Secretary of State in Nevada
- State legislators in Georgia, Michigan, Montana, and North Carolina
We’re also working on seven ballot measures across the country to put the power in voters’ hands to protect abortion rights, voting rights, and other key civil rights and liberties issues.
These elections couldn’t be more critical. State and local leaders have proven time and time again to be decisive in determining the future of key civil rights and liberties. And these key ballot measures impact important rights too – like abortion access, voting rights, and more.
At the same time, the ACLU’s national organizing infrastructure is hard at work educating voters, building local capacity, and mobilizing communities. We the people have the power to shape our futures by starting in our own backyards, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.
