I’m Charizma Williams, chief operating officer at ACLU.
I’m reaching out with a critical finance update: As I write this, we still haven’t hit our $750,000 match goal.
At this stage – even with every gift being 3X-MATCHED – I am concerned about us meeting our goal. So will you please rush a generous year-end gift and have it TRIPLED to protect the rights and freedoms of all people nationwide?
Starting on day one of the new Trump administration, President-elect Trump and his allies have pledged to:
- Unleash a flurry of actions that jeopardize the freedom and safety of immigrant communities.
- Lead a new wave of attacks on LGBTQ people – particularly trans youth – by removing all federal protections that currently prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
- Begin the largest mass deportation effort in U.S. history.
This is what we are up against – but the ACLU is built for this moment. We have a battle-tested plan to stop Trump: build a firewall for freedom in the states, block the administration’s worst offensives through litigation and advocacy, and mobilize our millions of supporters.
But we simply cannot put our plans into action without resources, so falling short of this year-end goal is not an option.
Thank you,
Charizma Williams
