WSDCC Wrap-up July 8, 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Click the image to play the video

GOTV is in full swing here at the state party! We’re working with local party organizations, elected officials and candidates across the state to get our communities registered and ready to vote blue in 2022. Next weekend, our tour across Washington state begins, kicking off with U.S. Sen. Patty Murray on the 16th and continuing right up until the primary. Stay tuned for the full schedule — and don’t worry, I’ve already got my Cheetos for the upcoming road trips (if you know, you know)!

WORKING FOR WASHINGTON

We’ve said it before, and we’ll keep saying it: Democrats, it’s time to rise, organize, and get to work. The primary is just 25 days away, with ballots dropping in a week from today.

We are firm believers of practicing what you preach. This is why we are knocking doors and making calls throughout Washington state THIS WEEKEND. We have a long list of volunteer opportunities below, with events in King County, and the Southwest, Northwest, Eastern, and South Puget and Olympic Peninsula regions. Sign up for one (or more) today, and help mobilize Democratic voters.

Or go a step further, and apply to join our staff! We have several job openings (a list of these can also be found below), which are integral to our GOTV operation. Some, like the field organizer and deputy field organizer roles, present a great chance for our younger Democrats, like those in college and high school, to gain real campaign experience and provide an entryway into Democratic politics.

We’re strong statewide because we knock doors, talk directly with voters, and inspire change each day, together. You know, it’s going to take all of us to win big in November, so let’s get to it — join our staff and volunteer team today!

STAFF CORNER

BRETT ANDRES
How long have you worked for the state party, and what is your role here?
I joined the Washington Democrats as the data director in February of this year.
Why are you a Democrat?
For my whole life, the Democratic Party has stood up for underrepresented communities and fought for a more representative democracy while the other party has concentrated power, tried to define who gets to be a "Real American" and fought to disenfranchise people who don't fit that image. That made choosing a party pretty easy. Ultimately, decisions about the structure of our society will be made —
I'd rather they were made by a government that truly represents all of its people and that we all have input into rather than allowing those decisions to be made by corporations.
Why do you enjoy this work?
It's great to know that the work I do every day contributes to the larger project of building a more just and equitable society. Additionally, political work has allowed me to meet  many people from many walks of life that I may not have met otherwise and to understand that our shared values can allow us to do great things together.
Want to join our team, or know of someone who’d make a great addition?
Current openings:
  • Voter Protection Director
  • Development Coordinator
  • Deputy Field Organizer
  • Digital Coordinator
  • Field Organizer
  • Research Coordinator

    October 18, 2025  10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
1st Avenue & Vintage Valley Parkway Zillah, WA 98953

**In Zillah, we don’t put up with would-be kings. Come out and let your neighbors know they aren’t alone.

Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger. “NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan—it’s the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, carried by millions in chants and on posters, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.

The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us.

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
