WSDCC – October 23, 2026

Posted on October 23, 2026

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Friday, October 23, 2026

It’s Friday, Washington Democrats! 11 days until Election Day.

(Chair Conrad at No Kings last weekend)

I was very excited to see so many people participating in No Kings – Vote Early events throughout the state this past weekend. I joined canvassers in Bellingham, Everett and Monroe and helped remind voters that those ballots sitting on their kitchen tables would be better off in a secure, official ballot drop box. I hope you will join me at a canvass this weekend! Sign up here!

What I’m Asking

As we head into the final weeks before the most important election of our lifetime, there’s important work happening across Washington, and your continual support helps make it possible. Contributing to WA Dems today will help us organize in every community, reach more voters, and elect leaders who share our values. Whether it’s $10, $25, or more, every donation strengthens our party and helps us keep moving Washington forward.

Working for Washington

Only 11 days remain before we elect Democrats up and down the ballot in every corner of our state. But that’s only if we get people to VOTE! Ballots are out right now! So please, sign up for a volunteer shift today! We have some incredible opportunities coming up!

On Tuesday, I joined Attorney General Nick Brown for a Voter Protection Q&A to discuss how Washington state is leading the charge both here and nationally to ensure every eligible voter can safely cast their ballot. It was a great conversation that was clear-eyed about the challenges facing us from our own federal government and confident in our approach to beat their efforts to disenfranchise voters. Thank you, Attorney General Brown for sitting down to walk us through how we are not just winning in court, but making a valuable difference for every voter who cares about fair elections. Watch the whole thing by clicking the image above or going here.

Also, if you are interested in signing up to join Washington Democrats’ Voter Protection Program, you can sign up here!

TOMORROW – GOTV canvasses are happening all around the state. Sign up for one today!

SUNDAY – Our Ballot Drop Weekend of Action continues on Sunday. Find the canvass nearest you and help your neighbors get those ballots in! Sign up today!

TUESDAY – Join special guests and myself as we launch our final week of Get Out the Vote efforts. We’re gathering on Zoom to get fired up, sign up for volunteer shifts, and end this election with everything on the field. This election has the potential to be historic, but that’s only if we’re able to mobilize our voters and get ballots off the kitchen table and into a secure, official ballot drop box. Sign up today!

Democrats Fight Back

U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal is already working to game out what Democratic control of the House Oversight Committee would bring and she’s focusing her attention on “the different parts of corruption around Musk.” The world’s first trillionaire built his empire on many dubious claims and when Democrats retake control, examining his businesses’ many conflicts of interest and the deep role they play in the lives of most Americans will be an important effort to ensure justice and accountability. Thank you, Congresswoman Jayapal!

PBS recently ran a national story about U.S. Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Perez’s race in Southwest Washington because it is one of the top races in the country. This seat could decide control of the House of Representatives and we need all the help we can get to push Marie over the finish line. Her opponent, State Senator John Braun,  is under fire from the family of a worker who was killed on the job at the manufacturing plant that Braun owns. Braun’s company, Braun Northwest is facing increased scrutiny over its safety record and was recently hit with a $12,000 fine by Washington Labor & Industries for an injury that occurred in July.

U.S. Representative Kim Schrier and U.S. Senator Patty Murray are working together to affirm our state’s commitment to wildfire prevention and response. They joined trainees at the Washington State Fire Training Academy to emphasize the importance of ensuring adequate training and safeguards for the brave first responders who are first on the scene at wildfires throughout the state.

Congressman Rick Larsen is laser focused on bringing down prices for Washingtonians. He sat down for an interview with the Lynnwood Times discussing how a Democratic majority is going to reign in Trump’s corruption and focus on policies that will benefit Washingtonians. Read the whole thing here.

U.S. Representative Adam Smith is facing his Republican opponent for the sixth time in this year’s midterm election. Adam is focused on real solutions to the problems facing his constituents and Washington state, while his opponent is focused on deep funding cuts that would further erode health care coverage and food assistance for our most vulnerable neighbors.

John Duresky is making it a real race in Congressional District 4. He’s up against MAGA rubber stamp Amanda McKinney who recently hosted the disgraced Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan. You can compare their stances on important issues here. It’s absolutely clear that John would fight for Central Washingtonians while his opponent would fight for millionaires and billionaires.

While her Republican opponent pals around with the woman who gutted the Department of Education, Carmela Conroy is working around the clock to meet voters where they are and help then get ahead. Carmela has the competence, the fidelity to our laws and constitution, and the backbone to flip Eastern Washington’s 5th Congressional District. This could be the year we get this seat back and expand Washington’s influence in the U.S. House of Representatives, but only if we get voters to turn out and help their neighbors vote!

What I’m Reading

Democrats gain ground with AAPI adults as trust in Republicans fades, AP-NORC/AAPI Data poll finds, LA Times

I am immensely proud of the work the DNC has invested to rebuild trust with AAPI communities across the country. Thanks for all you do,

Chair Shasti Conrad
