We’ve reached a defining point in this election: ballots will be in voters’ hands soon, and Election Day is only 28 days away.

I’m the statewide organizing director at the Democratic Party of Washington, and your donations pay for the program that I run, so I wanted to give you an update.

First, the topline number: Because of your support, we’ve already been able to activate more than 800 volunteers this year, who have reached 600,000+ Washington voters.

The WADEMS organizing program relies on three principles:

1. Meet voters where they are. Farmer’s markets, community events, townhalls, homes, cafes, more. Our organizers show up where voters spend their time, and work to build authentic relationships with them. We know that the old “transactional” style of politics no longer works. Voters want to be engaged in longer-term, more meaningful ways. That’s the work that we do.

2. Organize everywhere and prioritize relentlessly. We believe in reaching every voter in the state, and having a year-round program allows us to do that. When an important election is coming up, we hunker down and put more capacity into races and electorates that matter the most. This year, our goals are to protect Washington’s 3rd Congressional District from a MAGA GOP takeover and win a supermajority in the state legislature.

3. Use technology thoughtfully. Technology has changed the way we have to reach out to voters. We take advantage of phonebank dialers and voter targeting models, but we also give our organizers and volunteers apps that make it easy to reach out to voters, friends, family, and neighbors they already know. But that technology will never replace real human interaction. Even in this age of AI, a phone call or a door knock from a community member is the gold standard. That’s how we persuade voters to support our candidates and to turn out to vote. So, we use technology that allows us to find and build relationships with voters we might never reach. Technology doesn’t substitute relationship building… It helps us facilitate relationship building.

There are only 28 days until Election Day, and I promise that we’ll put every dollar you send us to good use to defend WA-03, win super majorities, and turn out voters across The Evergreen States.
