Moms Rising – July 2, 2026

Posted on July 2, 2026

Dear Friend,

📣 Moms have a declaration to make about life, liberty, and happiness this 4th of July. 📣 Spoiler alert: it involves affordable health care, universal child care, and groceries that don’t cost a fortune.

Let freedom ring for moms! This 4th of July, we’re raising our voices to make it easier and more affordable for families to build good lives. Add your name to the Mom Declaration for Life, Liberty, and Happiness! We’ll deliver it to Congress so they know what we expect them to be working toward.

→ CLICK HERE TO SIGN ON NOW! ←

Here’s what’s important: Freedom should be something we can actually feel. In our paycheck. At the doctor’s office. In the classroom. It’s being there for our children when they need us. Earning equal pay and a living wage. Groceries that don’t break the bank. Child care that doesn’t cost as much as a second mortgage. Choosing what’s best for our families. Sending our kids to schools where every child belongs and can thrive.

Sign on to our Mom Declaration for Life, Liberty, and Happiness!

TAKE ACTION

This year, we’re celebrating 250 years of working toward something worth fighting for—liberty and justice for ALL. And when we say all? We mean ALL moms and families.

That’s why we’re launching the Mom Declaration for Life, Liberty, and Happiness: 12 things every elected leader in this country should be working towards to make our country a place where all moms and families can thrive!

Moms have something to say about what freedom means—and what it takes to make it real for every family! Add your name to the Mom Declaration, and we’ll deliver it to Congress with thousands of moms and people who stand with you!

250 years in—we’re still working to build that “More Perfect Union,” and moms aren’t giving up! Our voices are needed more than ever. Why? In the past year, since Republicans in Congress passed Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill, stripping health care and food assistance from families and driving up costs, moms have shown up everywhere. [1] In the halls of Congress, in the streets, around kitchen tables, and in our communities. We made our voices heard, told our stories, and stood in our power. We did it all while packing lunches, picking up medications, getting kids to camp on time, and keeping our families going. And public opinion is changing!

But the emergency isn’t over: One year after the largest cuts to health care and food assistance in history, families are feeling it—less food on the table, less money in household budgets, and less access to the health care we count on. [2] [3] We won’t back down. We’re still in it, and we’re still rising!

Add your name to the Mom Declaration—and we’ll deliver the Declaration to your member of Congress!

Families are the backbone of our communities, our economy, and our nation. Our policies should reflect that. The Mom Declaration does exactly that: it’s a blueprint for an America where all moms and families can fulfill the promise of our nation’s Declaration of Independence—the “unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

Here it is:

🩺LIFE 🩺

  • Health Care for All: From birth onwards, including aging, and disability.
  • Healthy Food: Access to nutritious food for every family.
  • Respect for Every Family: Safety, dignity, and opportunity for every mom and family, regardless of race or background; and not mass incarceration.
  • Freedom from Gun Violence: Keep our communities, kids, and democracy safe.

🗽LIBERTY🗽

  • Defend Democracy: Unshakeable voting rights, freedom of speech, and safe access to polling locations.
  • Safe Schools: Ensure schools are places where every child can learn and thrive.
  • Reproductive Freedom: Better maternal health outcomes and autonomy over reproductive health decisions.
  • Protect Immigrant Families: Immigration policies that balance compassion and security, while honoring the contributions of immigrants.

🌟HAPPINESS🌟

  • Fair Taxes for Families: Tax policies that prioritize families and the economy.
  • Universal Childcare: High-quality early education for every child.
  • Good Jobs: Fair pay, paid family and medical leave, and earned sick days.
  • Affordable Cost of Living: Housing, gas, groceries, utilities, and other basics must be affordable so everyone can build a good life.

Are you with us? Add your name to the Mom Declaration—and help us tell Congress what we expect of them!

Thank you for raising your voice to bring our nation closer to liberty and justice for all. Together, we are a powerful force for change!

– Kristin, Donna, Olivia, Kelsey, Hanna, and the whole MomsRising / MamásConPoder team

BADGER FORUM: Laliik: Sacred Mountain in Bureaucratic Quagmire

Our iconic Rattlesnake Mountain is known as Laliik to Native Americans, for whom the mountain has been sacred for millennia.  The oft repeated and dubious local claim that it's the tallest treeless mountain neglects the true significance of its geology and ecology.  Its incorporation into the Hanford Site in 1943 initiated a complex history of federal involvement, culminating in its current and persistent off-limits status.

This forum will describe the mountain's history, geology, ecology, and cultural significance and seek to understand perspectives on possible futures for one of the region's treasures.

    Tri-City Democrats - Friday, September 11, 6:00 PM

    September 11, 2026  6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Round Table Pizza, 3201 W Court St, Pasco, WA 99301, USA

It's September, and time for our monthly gathering. We'll meet on September 11 at 6pm.  We are inviting candidates who have made it through the primary to come visit with us. We will also have 'Hate Has no Home Here' and 'Vote Blue' signs available.

We are hoping that the weather will cooperate for a picnic at the farm - 4501 W Lattin Ct, West Richland, WA. If it's hot, we have plenty of shade and misters and sprinklers to take the edge off the heat. If it's cool, we have firepits and patio heaters to take the edge off the chill. We have the Pasco Round Table reserved in the event that the weather does not cooperate, and we'll make a final announcement on Wednesday the 9th. Come gather with like-minded folks and share some fellowship, food and beverages. If we are picnicking, bring a dish to share, and Tri-City Democrats will provide utensils and plates, and napkins. If we're at the pizza location, TCD will purchase an assortment of pizzas to share. You're on your own for salad bar and beverages, though there are usually pitchers of beer provided by fellow members. We'll have the donation box available for those who care to financially support the group.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this forum will detail how remarkable it and the Constitution were. Professors Jamie Mayerfeld (UW) and Johann Neem (WWU) will explain how Jefferson, Hamilton, Madison, and others, based on principles gleaned from the ancient history of the Greeks and Romans, along with contemporary ideas of the Enlightenment, forged an unprecedented synthesis, resulting in a paradigm shift in governance from monarchy to self-determination.

    It wasn’t easy.

In this hybrid program these professors will explain the context, the struggles, and the underlying principles anchored in these two founding documents to help us gain a deeper appreciation of how our country brought forth a new age of liberty and governance, one determined by “We the People….”
